I strive to create an enjoyable enriching experience. I am a NYS Certified Math and Literacy Teacher with a Bachelor's degree in Math Education and a Master's of Education in Literacy. I have an extensive math SAT background. I have worked with many SAT students both on my own and through other tutoring corporations.While I enjoy teaching groups, I feel that one-on-one tutoring is more beneficial for the student and allows him/her to have the individualized attention they deserve. The SAT's can be daunting without the right preparation, and my goal is to get students familiar and comfortable with the SAT math by reviewing the topics, teaching them to decode the questions, and offering helpful strategies.In literacy, I have experience working with all different ages from pre-school to entry level college courses. I am an artist, having received my Master of Fine Arts degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where I also taught Sculpture. I received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology at UC Davis, and I am currently a Master's student at California State San Marcos studying Experimental Psychology. My research involves studying peptide influences on maternal behavior in mice, specifically peptides related to stress and alertness. I have a passion for statistics and research methods. My goals for the future involves getting a Ph. D. in behavioral neuroscience and eventually working as a researcher and/or college professor. Through the Master's program, I have had much experience working with undergraduate students helping them with statistical procedures and planning research proposals. I am also currently teaching a section of an Introductory Psychology class at CSU San Marcos. My favorite areas in which to tutor would hands down be statistics and research methods. As a tutor, I value the interaction with students, as I love to be a mentor and provide guidance in both academics and life management strategies. I have many other interests outside of academia, including rock climbing, juggling (I can juggle 7 balls), playing guitar and piano, snowboarding, riding my road bike, going on hikes, and playing board games.

In high school I was described as a nerd, not only because I graduated valedictorian of my senior class, but because I did all of my homework as well as extra problems.My love of math and science caused me to pursue a Civil Engineering degree at the University of California - Irvine. After graduating with my undergraduate degree in June 2014, I am now working on my graduate degree in the same field. My overall career goal is to work for a public agency that monitors and analyzes environmental hydrology and water resource models.I started tutoring math in high school. A family friend asked me to help her son, who was struggling with seizures and missing class a lot for doctors appointments, catch up with his Algebra 2 class. Once I started college, I got a job tutoring students primarily in Algebra, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. I enjoy tutoring not only because I enjoy solving problems, but because I love seeing and hearing about my students success. My best day as a tutor was when one of my Pre-Calculus students told me that not only did he pass his final exam, but he moved up an entire letter grade in the class. I was so excited to hear this news because I knew that it meant that now he would be able to take AP Calculus which would, in turn, make him a more competitive candidate his dream aerospace engineering program.In my spare time, I enjoy reading. My favorite days are ones that are spent with a novel. My other hobbies include playing piano, photography, running, hiking, yoga, and travel.
