My name is Natasha, and I'm a graduate student at MIT. I started tutoring from my first year of undergrad because I had such wonderful experiences when I was in high school learning with friends and upperclassmen. I am personally a social learner- I learn best when I'm talking and wrestling with concepts out loud and in a group. When I can express myself coherently, I know I have mastered the material. When I started tutoring, I received a formal job, from my undergraduate university, at the Learning Den at Johns Hopkins University Office of Student Support. I hosted lectures every week in a variety of subjects spanning mathematics, engineering physics, to chemistry and the biological sciences. Here, I encountered a variety of students and different learning styles, and learned how to adapt to each one. Working with students exposed me to various styles - visual, audio, interactive and many more types of teaching. I find that every student has their own way of incorporating the material, and I want to effectively teach in a way that helps you learn in the method most conducive to your understanding.Currently, I enjoy working with physical and mathematically oriented subjects. Mathematics, coding, physics, chemistry, and biology are my favorite topics to teach since there are numerous ways to arrive at an answer, and I love the creativity permitted in problem-solving.

As a tutor, I am a well of diversity; academically, as an experienced educator from two distinct educational systems first with the British system back in Ghana and presently American system, I come with innovative and fresh approach to learning which will be of a great value to share with my tutees. Besides, I come from humble beginnings, which helped mold me into a steadfast, goal oriented and highly adaptive without losing my identity. These qualities fostered a driving force that saw me through GED, college, Post baccalaureate and currently medical school. My life purpose is that of labor of love, to give back to communities that are in dire need for affordable healthcare and health education. It was this passion that made me become an ambassador for Mentoring in Medicines Community health program where I was able to partner up with equally passionate health care providers to educate impoverished communities about safer healthier lifestyle. I strongly believe when it comes to health; Preventive measures are always a better alternative health care we can offer ourselves. As an AmeriCorps National Service alumni, I had the unique opportunity to provide health education on a broader scale to varying communities. I was able to combine my love for teaching and medicine to engineer emergency relief campaigns to provide immediate aid to victims of hurricanes. I also had the single honor to work with Project Reach Youths high school students who were mostly from battered homes. Once again, my past experience with abuse and openness to share made me a trusting companion for my students to open up to and so I was able to break barriers and was able to help them academically as well as emotionally.Nothing happens by accident as far as I am concerned.I am woman with a life purpose driven by love, compassion, optimism, patience and determination. I learnt from my experiences that it takes more than smarts and desire to venture into any academic path. I have endured countless rejections, setbacks, disappointments but I have also met great pioneers and motivators who have urged me to push forward. I am also honored to report that I am trendsetter in my family; The first to earn a Bachelors degree and also the very first of my entire family to receive any graduate level education let alone a medical profession. Now, we have two college graduates in my immediate family; my younger brother and me.In summary, my vision in life is very simple; to inspire hope in hopeless situations and I ultimately want to be that positive change I want to see in this world. Hopefully, do it with some class, humor and dignity.

Hello All,I am a chemist pursuing my M.S. in chemistry. I currently teach undergraduates as a graduate assistant. I have taught the following courses while in graduate school: General chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry and Inorganic Chemistry. I also minored in mathematics while getting my B.S. in chemistry so I have tutored students in everything from algebra to multi-variable calculus. I enjoy helping students and I get really excited when I feel I have helped a student achieve their learning objectives. Some of my hobbies include yoga, reading, playing music with my band members and cooking. I hope I can help with your science and math courses. Best of luck!

I graduated from Oberlin College and Conservatory in 2015, where I earned a B.A. in Chemistry and a B.Mus. in Vocal Performance. Teaching has always been a passion of mine, both as an academic tutor and as a choir director. Working together with others to achieve goals and exceed expectations is the most rewarding pursuit one can have. In tutoring, math and chemistry have always been the subjects where I worked with students, and those are the ones that I enjoy the most. Many people are scared off by those subjects, but I enjoy showing students how to simplify and master them. I have done some personal study in SAT test preparation and how to specifically teach students how to improve on all parts of that exam. When I am not tutoring or singing, I enjoy playing bridge and chess or being outside running or in a kayak.

I've been a mathematician and tutor for about 15 years. I have also taught mathematics at the college level for the past 7 years. My research touches on the interactions between math and theoretical computer science, as well as number theory (largely the study of prime numbers). I've taught courses ranging from basic arithmetic up through linear algebra and multivariable calculus. The second most exciting thing about mathematics is that moment when something totally opaque and confusing suddenly solidifies into crystal clarity. It's the sort of moment that makes you shout "aha!" or "eureka!". The most exciting thing about mathematics is sharing that experience with someone else.

I am currently graduating from School for Advanced Studies high school and Miami Dade College with my Associates in Art both simultaneously. I am going to continue my education at Carnegie Mellon University. I tutor my peers and anyone that needs help in my family. I have a pretty wide range of what I can teach because of all the different people that need help. I am also able to teach in different ways to make sure that the student understands and masters the materials given. I tutor in all types of math and am flexible with the type of math students need help with. On my free time I play the French Horn with my school band and hang out with family and friends.
