I am a certified English teacher at Cambridge High School. I hold a master's degree in English Education and bachelor's degrees in both English and Theater. I have worked as a tutor/instructor for eight years, and my experiences include tutoring ESL students in math and science, working at a theatre camp for five summers, and working at a science camp for two summers. I have also spent a great deal of time acting in various productions, directing several shows, and delivering speeches to different groups. Although I tutor in a broad variety of subjects, my passion lies in the teaching of writing, reading, drama, and public speaking. I find that the best way to engage students is by connecting what they are working on to their personal experiences. I believe that one of the main purposes to this great wealth of literature that we have at our disposal is to communicate shared experiences across the globe. When students find an engaging, practical reason to relate to what they are working on, inspiration flows and an attention to detail naturally follows. I strive to foster a sense of pride in my students; by building self-confidence, I bring out natural ability in my students that they might not know that they possess. In my free time, I enjoy reading, acting, writing, directing, cooking, and traveling.

I understand the daily struggle and that you NEED the better grades, which is why I'll make sure you learn the subject well and come out of your course with the better grades. I love teaching people because I know how it feels to finally solve that problem you've been struggling with, and how nice it is that someone helped you do it. Whether its Algebra or Calculus 2, a problem is a problem that needs to be solved and understood. Furthermore, I can help advise you with different high school needs outside of the subject area as you need.

I am a graduate of Regent University with a Masters in Digital Media. I received my Bachelor of Science in Communication with a focus on Television and Theatre. In terms of teaching, it's important to understand that each student learns differently. My area of expertise is helping the student break down the concept in a way that makes sense. At the end of the session, if the student can explain a concept back to me in their own words, then we are making excellent progress.Since graduation, I have become an Emmy Award-Winning Host, Tech Lifestyle Expert, Multimedia Producer, and Parent Technology Advocate focusing on multiplatform content development. Some of my most notable assignments and awards have included Technology Blogger for The Huffington Post, two Emmys, one as the Host of an entertainment-education series for NASA (NASA360), and as the Producer/Host-Digital Lifestyle Contributor for the CBN News Digital Download technology show.I also received a Parents Choice Education Award as the Host of Colonial Williamsburg's Emmy Award-Winning live call-in program HERO Live, syndicated on PBS and streaming in over a thousand schools across the country. As a Multimedia Producer, I provided on-location social media coverage and production during four Super Bowls(XLVI, XLIX,50, LV), MLB World Series, NCAA Final Four, disaster areas, and celebrity interviews. In front of the lens, I conducted one-on-one interviews with high-profile personalities such as Grammy Winner Lecrae Moore, 2012 Miss America, New York Times Best Selling Author Bishop T.D. Jakes and provided live on-location coverage of the 2017 Eclipse for NASA in the path of totality

Hello there! My name is Maria and I am a recent graduate of Georgia Tech, where I completed a B.S degree in Neuroscience and a minor in Health and Medical Sciences. I am currently in my "gap year" between starting medical school in Fall 2021. I have strong experience and expertise in biology, chemistry, psychology related subjects due to pre-medical experience, and I am experienced at tutoring algreba! I am a big "nerd" and find science very very fun and interesting! If you don't, I will do my best to get you on my level of science appreciation. I have experience in K-12 tutoring, as well as college-level, as I was a Teaching Assistant (TA) at Georgia Tech. I am here to make school a little less hard, and a little more fun :) Hope you are doing well in this unprecedented time, and don't forget to wear your mask when going out!

I graduated from UCLA with a BS in Cognitive Science and a Math minor and specialization in Computing. After finishing school I began working in LA as an App Developer. While the work was interesting, I sorely missed the rich social and face to face interactions that I had enjoyed through school, and now tutoring! Consequently I left and traveled through South America for 5 months. While I was there I decided to return to my passion of guiding and outdoor education. The following summer I returned to North America and took middle and high school students to British Columbia to camp, raft, canoe, and climb through the beautiful Northwest Parks. Outdoor education pedagogy emphasizes experiential education; in other words, encouraging students to explore, ask questions, and often times learning from mistakes. I believe, and have often personally seen evidence to support this, that mistakes are our best teachers. I don't want to lecture on the best way to solve a problem; you have plenty of time in the classroom for that. Instead, I would rather help you identify your own strengths and weaknesses and develop strategies that work for you. After all, doing well in a class or standardized test is good and all, but walking away with a real understanding of the subject matter that works for you is the real goal.

I'm a finance student at the University of Georgia dedicated to helping my students learn math and other skills through practice and hard work. I began my tutoring career at Kumon where I developed a passion to help other students excel in their academic careers. My teaching philosophy is practice, the only to truly master a subject is to practice it until you can do it with your eyes closed.

I'm not only an educator, but I also believe myself to be a life-long learner. This is why I'm committed to engaging, cultivating and inspiring the love of learning in others.I know education to be priceless, because once you've learned anything, no one can steal or take it away from you. It's yours to develop, transform, and expound on. To innovate, create, and even re-define.One of the things I respect the most about educating and teaching is that all learners learn differently. I love learning and creating new ways to teach, guide, and mentor; so I enjoy the unique perspective each learner brings with them. This is another attribute that makes me a life-long learner myself. That I too can learn from my students and there is no "one size fits all approach".It's also important that my students feel completely empowered in their abilities. So, I love to build on their learning success: tailor to their needs, help expand their prior knowledge, and support them as they dominate learning goals.Although I completed my Bachelors of Arts degree in Speech, Communication, & Theater and Graduate work in Education Administration & Supervision; this did not stop me from teaching World and United States History, Introduction to Computer Science, Library, and implementing, designing and directing a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics Summer Camp. You see, from the time I was a little girl I've always felt that I could be (learn) anything I wanted; It turns out, I could also teach anything I learn.I've loved and participated in performance based curricula from 9 years of age, beginning with concert band as a first chair flute right up to college and present. I was a cheerleader, regular participant in communication art showcases, and during college I performed with the University of the Virgin Island's Little Theater. I also joined a traveling ensemble theater group, freelanced as a commercial and voice over actress, and local television show co-host.Upon graduation, I formed a non-profit organization dedicated to providing performing arts education programs and events for under-privileged children. I've written and directed historical plays; and while employed as a Speech teacher I coached students for Poetry Out Loud and Shakespeare Festival competitions.Presently, I continue to learn, read, write and educate as I look forward to creating an intricate tapestry of life-long learners with every learner engagement I'm bestowed.
