I am a Mechanical Engineering student at Seattle Pacific University, and I love to help others grasp challenging concepts. I enjoy filling in gaps in students' understanding as well as working with students who are new to a subject. In the past, I have worked with students on a variety of mathematics subjects such as: algebra, trigonometry, and calculus. I am confident I can help students grasp just about any math concept. I have always had a drive to understand things completely and this has has helped me develop a comprehensive understanding of high school and early college mathematics and physics. Mathematics and physics are my favorite subjects to tutor because I appreciate the consistent logic that is fundamental to these to these topics. I am confident I can help any student grasp difficult math concepts.I take a systematic, analytical approach to most effectively and efficiently improve the mathematic and/or scientific ability of my clients. In doing this, I follow a four-step process:1) identify the specific, problematic concepts2) develop teaching strategies tailored to the student's age level and personality3) work through the concepts with the student4) use continuous check-ins to make sure the student is truly learning the material, making appropriate changes to my teaching style when necessary.Outside of academics, I love to be creative and to exercise outdoors. Crochet and writing are two of my favorite creative activities. Also, as a result of my participation in band and choir throughout high school, I like to listen to, learn, and write music. Lastly, I love to bike and swim. Whether it is a short ride to the river or a 300-mile ride to the Oregon coast, biking satisfies my inner desire for freedom, and the destination often involves a cool place to dive in.

I received my BS in Biology/Ecology from UCSD in 2011. I also earned a minor in English Literature. I moved to Oakland in 2013 to attend graduate school at SFSU where I earned my MS in Ecology Conservation Biology. I did my thesis studying social behavior and disease in salamanders! In the past I have done research on everything from sea turtles to birds and bugs, and have been lucky enough to travel to lots of cool places like Thailand, Panama, and Costa Rica to work on conservation projects. I work as field biologist. My husband and I moved to Portland in March 2018 and are excited to make it our home! Outside of work I love outdoor activities including hiking and camping (especially with our chocolate lab, Riley). I also love to bake, craft and sew, and do yoga.I have been tutoring for about 7 years now, working with students grades K-12 in a variety of subjects including math, science, reading comprehension and test preparation. My favorite subject to tutor is math, because when I was younger it was something that I struggled with until I got the right help. Now I like to give other students that same opportunity to reach their potential. I love helping students get excited about learning and boosting their confidence in subjects they might not have enjoyed before. When working with students I like to help them find what learning techniques are best for them. I myself am a visual learner, and I usually use this as a starting point, but I love to adapt based on students' personal needs.

I'm a par time tutor and at safety engineer working at Intel. My areas of focus are science, math, writing, english, and Spanish. Learning has always been my number one passion in life, and I can't wait to share that passion with my clients. My goal as a tutor is to not only help my clients learn their subject matter, but also improve their confidence by reinforcing the value of improving on their academic weaknesses. In my opinion intellectual growth occurs when the student is challenged, not just when the student is learning something new. I prefer students in high school and college, as those are the ages I have the most experience with, but if you would like me to tutor your child I would be more than happy to help them grow. I believe that I offer a unique and effective tutoring experience, with very flexible hours and unrivaled dedication to my clients. Please contact me if you are interested, and I look forward to meeting you.

I have over 5 years experience working with students from age 4 to 18. Also, I have worked with college students teaching them maths and French. I am great with my students as I am very patient with them. I usually go over the lesson, explain the topic, then go over some examples before letting the student work the problems on his own. I use different teaching styles with my students.I believe I will be a good fit to work with students because I hold a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering and an Accounting Certificate; my achievements in education permit me to properly help, teach, and guide students with their education in order to make them more confident and succeed in School and later on College. My goal is to help students with their subjects and make sure they enjoy studying those subjects; I believe that to successfully understand the topics and subjects, the student has to enjoy them in order to feel more confident with these subjects.

I enjoy teaching and working with people! Being boring, is a crime. Teaching must be relevant to the student and of value to be of any use. I greatly value getting to know each of the people I teach and find meaning in all my interactions with people.

I am currently studying psychology with concentration in human development at DePaul University, with the intention of becoming a psychologist. I have extensive tutoring experience at DePaul's writing center, and have taken classes which help fine-tune my tutoring skills; I work with a diverse population of students, on a wide variety of writing-based projects. My favorite subject to tutor would be anything related to reading or writing, as these are the subjects I have the most experience with. I am a strong believer of the fact that anyone who writes anything is a good writer, and that with patience and guidance, they will absolutely reach their full potential. In my spare time, I enjoy baking, spending time with my friends, and exploring my hometown, the city of Chicago.
