Hey there! My name is Arianna. I was born in Caracas, Venezuela and moved to Miami, FL at a young age. I attended college for two years before transferring to the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor where I earned my B.S. in Biomolecular Science. I am currently a high school chemistry teacher in the city of Chicago. I love to help others and tutoring is a way to have a small impact on such an important aspect of society, education.

I am a current senior at the University of Chicago about to graduate with a BA, double majoring in Anthropology and Philosophy. My interests have always been pretty diverse, from both stem to the humanities, and I am comfortable teaching in a variety of different subjects.Tutoring has long been an important part of my life and I take a lot of joy in being able to teach others. I started on a volunteer basis during high school, where I taught middle school Math and English, and I have continued tutoring middle and high school students while in college. I definitely have the most experience teaching Math, and I think I have seen the most immediate improvements while teaching Math. I was a teaching assistant for Drawing for Animation at the college level. And I've homeschooled an 8 year old in the subjects of science, history, sorcery, and storytelling. I'm passionate about art and expression. I take time to ensure my students grasp the material. I volunteered to teach an ESL class in Israel in 1995. I have assisted in an Iowa after school tutoring program for three years. I enjoyed substitute teaching in Iowa school systems, then became a social worker for families facing challenges for two years.I was born and raised in Chicago then moved to the suburbs. In my opinion, problem solving is a learned skill that is widely applicable in many areas of life. My tutoring philosophy is to develop students into better problem solvers while assisting them in particular courses or standardized tests. Tola is from Northwest Indiana and attended Indiana University Bloomington, triple majoring in Chemistry, Neuroscience, and Biology and graduating with Highest Distinction and Phi Beta Kappa. She was awarded several departmental awards in organic chemistry during her time at IU. After her time at Indiana University-Bloomington, she worked as Lead Clinical Informatics Specialist (scribe) and later a Clinical Documentation Specialist at Oak Street Health, a network of primary care clinics for adults on Medicare. Tola is now a medical student at Harvard Medical School.Tola has been teaching and tutoring for the past 7 years working with high school and undergraduate students, including college athletes. She has tutored or served as a teaching assistant in psychology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, and high school math courses. She has mentored and advised pre-medical students as a member of the Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students (MAPS), Hope Medical Scholars at Harvard Medical School, and the Student National Medical Association.

I am a recent graduate of Purdue University where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Math Education. During my time at Purdue, I had the opportunity to teach a college level Precalculus class, as well as Algebra I regular and Honors, and Financial Algebra during my student teaching experience at a Chicago High School. During my student teaching, I often tutored students during my lunch hour who needed some extra help outside of the classroom. My favorite subject to tutor in is math, and I specifically enjoy tutoring Algebra I and Algebra II, Geometry and Calculus. My favorite part of math (and the way I learned it best) was when I could relate a problem to a real world situation, so you can expect us to make some really cool connections together!
