I have also taught Algebra 1 Part 1 to classes that were taking Algebra in two years at a slower pace.I am the Math Department Head at my current school. I am responsible for leadership of the six math teachers in our department which includes curriculum mapping, curriculum pacing, testing, etc. in our building. I have been successful in teaching my students with a very high passing rates on state testing for the last 9 years. I consider myself self driven, analytically, and a good math teacher. I have mentored student teachers in my classroom and also first year teachers at my school. I have recently tutored college students for their GRE test, they were very successful in getting their Math score up after our tutoring sessions.I believe that every child can learn. It is the teacher's responsibility to find what makes each student learn and motivate them to be successful. I have a proven track record of successful students for the last 27 years. I tutor students everyday in a classroom setting and on an individual basis. I enjoy working with students and helping them reach their full potential.

ACT Prep Tutor • +34 Subjects

I'm Garrett, a recent nuclear engineering graduate from MS&T, and I really enjoy seeing people learn things that I know they'll use later. Due to my engineering background, I'm more focused on teaching the process of a subject rather than insuring that the answer is always correct, I feel this way leaves a student better prepared to deal with the future rather than temporarily shoring up knowledge for a test.

Japanese Tutor • +2 Subjects

I was born and raised in Japan. Then I came to America. I graduated from Unification Theological Seminary in NY. I have master's degree of religious education. These days American people are more interested in Japanese culture and Korean culture. So I want to support their understanding Japanese and Korean culture by tutoring Japanese and Korean language. I believe that this is one of better ways to create world peace.I started teaching young people Japanese since 2007. Sometimes I taught it in college and public library. My class always has fun and meaningful content. Sometimes I explain about tradition related to Japanese language. In order for students to understand Japanese easily, I use textbook which I created. I studied Korean language from 34 years ago. Then I started teaching Korean online since 2015. I have Korean friend. We made Korean textbook together. Korean grammar is very similar to Japanese. I can teach people Korean.

I have been a paid tutor almost every year since I was in 3rd-grade fractions. Even when I was a child, parents and teachers recognized I had a gift for figuring out where another student's thinking went astray and for devising a way to correct the problem. I am aware that everyone learns differently, and I have great patience to determine what the student's learning style is and what techniques work best for that person. Many people have told me that I was the best tutor they ever had. Even when I have a full-time programming job, I always find someone to tutor in some subject. It's what I do best, and it makes me feel like I am improving someone else's life.I am currently starting a new business writing mobile apps for iPhone/iPad.I have a Masters in Math and a Masters in Geophysics. My Bachelor's is in Math, and I have the equivalent to a Bachelor's in Computer Science. I also have 5 Associate degrees: Spanish, International Language, Mobile Computing, Web Development, and Computer Programming. I lack one or two courses having an Associate in English. I should be the poster child for life-long learning. My GRE score in math was 770 when it was on an 800 scale.I have 15 years' experience programming computers and 14 years doing tech work and training individuals to use their computers and Office products like Word and Excel, as well as QuickBooks accounting package. I taught college Calculus for 4 years, college Algebra and Computer Concepts for 3 years, college computer language classes for 7 years, and high school math and computer science for 2 1/2 years. I tutored for Oxford Learning Center for 1 1/2 years: ACT/SAT prep and homework support, mostly high school math, English, and Spanish. I have tutored on my own for 30+ years on any subject that I knew how to do, mostly math and computer science. I'm pretty fluent in Spanish, and I love to teach it. I'm a photographer, so I'm great at Photoshop and Lightroom, and I like to play with Illustrator. I also can tutor Physics, Physical Science, and English, especially English for non-native speakers.I've tutored a lot of students for SAT and ACT prep and a few of the other standardized tests. I can teach all parts of the exam, but I'm best at math, and I can usually gain the most overall points in math because, let's face it, a person's vocabulary is not going to increase a extensively in the few remaining months before they take the exam, and that's the key to a good score in Reading or English.I've taught classroom math (pre-Algebra through Calculus II) and computer science in both high school and college. I have an Oklahoma Teaching Certificate in Intermediate and Advanced Math, Computer Science, Earth Science, Physics, Physical Science, Spanish, English, English as a Second Language, and Mild/Moderate Disabilities.I enjoy teaching college students, adults who want to learn so they can help their kids learn, and high school kids. I am good with middle school students if they really want to learn, and I'm good with gifted or highly motivated elementary students. I am also quite good with any age person who speaks another language but wants to learn English.I home-schooled my oldest son 4th-8th grade in all subjects because teachers and psychologists didn't believe in his ability to learn; he has Asperger's form of autism, ADD/ADHD, and a severe visual processing disorder. His teacher in 4-year-olds and a pediatrician both said he'd never learn to read, and the pediatrician and a psychologist both said he'd never be able to leave home or to put him in a group home. His SAT scores: a perfect 800 Reading, 700 Math, and 790 Writing, and he was his school's first National Merit Scholar Finalist based on his PSAT scores. I can't take all the credit for that, but I'm sure that at least part of it is due to my tutoring.I am uniquely qualified to tutor students with learning differences and have the patience and talent to do so (besides my son, I have taught two mentally challenged girls to read and tutored College Algebra and Spanish to students through the Disabled Student Resource Center at Tulsa Community College, including one student who was deaf, two were blind, one had cerebral palsy, and one had a brain injury). For 4 years from 4th to 8th-grade, I tutored two homeschooled brothers in middle school so that they could be in a high-level tennis program. The younger one initially had some serious problems with English (it was not his first language) and with study skills and test-taking. Within a year, his scores in all subjects had come up above average, and by the next year, he was above 85% in every subject.I don't give up when I hear someone says that teaching someone something is hopeless, and I don't let my students give up or their parents.I live to see that lightbulb go on in a student.

I have been teaching and designing curriculum for middle school, high school, and college students since 2010. My curriculum and lesson plans are guided by the belief that every student has a unique set of talents that, when harnessed correctly, can be used to achieve even the most ambitious goals. I work particularly well with students who want to improve their reading and writing abilities. I make reading lessons understandable and interesting, and I love to share the writing strategies that helped me win my scholarships to the college of my dreams... and become its newspaper's editor! Are you more comfortable with STEM skills than reading and writing? My STEM-focused students often tell me that my lessons get them to see these language skills from an analytical viewpoint, which helps them use their natural strengths on reading and writing assignments. My test prep curriculum also includes strategies you may not have encountered anywhere else. You are the key to your own success, and together we can unlock any achievement you can imagine! If you want a tutor who listens to you, cheers you on, and shares school-proven strategies to enhance your learning, I am the right tutor for you.Basic Info: I graduated from Knox College in 2011 with a B.A. in Secondary Education. I have worked in the classroom with gifted students, students with learning disabilities, adult learners and English-language learners, so I have had the opportunity to hone my teaching skills to meet many different needs. Currently I am teaching 8th grade U.S. History in Oklahoma.

Arithmetic Tutor • +45 Subjects

I grew up in the South Bay area where I went to San Jose State University. I studied Child Development and then returned to gain a multiple subject teaching credential. I was hired into a wonderful school district right out of college. During my summers I had great opportunities to take classes in teaching writing and math. After a few years I was able to teach other teachers how to improve their writing instruction. After 5 years in the classroom I left teaching for a year to become a district math coach. I spent that year helping 15 teachers be better at math instruction as well as facilitating math instruction for district wide training. I spent my 7th year of teaching back in the classroom. As a teacher I tutored my students who needed extra help. I had a reading club after school for those who needed a little extra help to make it to grade level. I also have tutored students one on one to help with reading, homework help, and math. I worked with second language children in my classroom daily to help them learn English. I taught Summer school also to help with students who needed a little extra help to be ready for the next grade level.I have since moved to Oklahoma where my son is now in Kindergarten. I look forward to working with students online and those in the Tulsa area. I'd love to make learning fun for your child.
