I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy before then graduating from Creighton University's School of Law. I am passionate about teaching because of the unusual path I took to academia.I left high school in 9th grade and didn't return until my early 20's. However, upon returning, I hit the ground running and never looked back. After graduating from Creighton Law, I received my Divorce Mediator certification, attended both the State and Federal Tax schools offered through the State of Iowa, and passed my Securities Industry Essentials examinations.I am a lifelong learner and am dedicated to being the best student, teacher, and mentor. I'm a father to three boys, and teaching my sons the path to success is my greatest job.

I currently have a Masters of Science of Education in Counseling from Alfred University, NY and Advanced Certificates in Grief Counseling and Play Therapy. I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Spanish and Secondary Education from Queens College. I have taught Spanish for about 9 years and tutored Spanish privately on and off for about 5 years.I love tutoring Spanish. I know the struggles and challenges that students face when trying to learn another language. I make learning Spanish fun and as easy but always relating new vocabulary and content to everyday life for each learner. I believe that all students have the capacity to learn and do well in a foreign language and that educators should take the time to know their students so that lessons can be tailored to meet their specific and individual needs. All students have different learning styles and I do my best to differentiate my teaching style to accommodate the students that I teach.Aside from teaching/tutoring I love reading, music, writing songs and travelling and exploring different places.I look forward to working with students of all ages and skill levels and to make this learning experience as stress free and comfortable as possible. :)

I am an undergraduate student at Vanderbilt University who is pursuing a major in mathematics and a minor in computer science. My experience in tutoring environments entails working at a learning center teaching mathematics and serving as a volunteer in various mentorship and tutoring programs. While I have taught various subjects such as financial literacy and music, I especially love to work with students in mathematics as well as SAT preparation. In mathematics, I often feel that the way it is taught in schools can cause students to struggle with or lose interest in it. Additionally, a student cannot always have their questions or misunderstandings personally addressed in a classroom which can be particularly frustrating in math. I enjoy getting students excited about mathematics by helping them overcome difficulties in understanding that come from being in such an environment. As for the SAT, I believe that in my own endeavor to do well on it; I have developed approaches to and understandings of the test that will greatly help students preparing for it. The test can be rather daunting for a student so having someone to guide studying and the development of the skills necessary to do well on the SAT is greatly valuable.Outside of academics, music is a huge part of my life; I am an avid trumpet player and am part of a music-based fraternity. Additionally, I enjoy hikes and nature walks with my dog, video games, and television shows about cooking.

I would like to be the one to help you improve academically and grow to meet your potential. I know from experience that academics can be challenging, but with the right support and encouragement every student is capable of excellence. Together we can work towards improving your test-taking skills and strategies, as well as increasing engagement by relating material to your personal strengths and interests.History and Literature are two of my greatest passions, subjects I studied at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro. Though these subjects can at times be difficult to engage with, I am confident that together we can uncover new perspectives and learning strategies that will reinvigorate your relationship to the material and improve your grades dramatically. Sometimes all that is necessary for an academic breakthrough is seeing old material from a new vantage point!I know the importance of developing a strong and functional rapport with students. During my time as a Substitute Teacher and as a one-on-one Guitar Instructor, I have learned techniques and strategies for successful and patient engagement. I will create an individualized instructional plan that capitalizes on your strengths and is tailored to your personality. So let's hit the books!

ACT English Tutor • +15 Subjects
I love everything about language and writing. If you are struggling with an English class, getting the score you want on the ACT, writing a paper, or understanding grammar rules in English or French I am the tutor for you! I received my undergraduate degree in Film and Media Studies from the University of Oklahoma with a minor in French. I have taken many rigorous courses in creative writing, essay writing using MLA and APA styles, and journalistic writing using the AP Stylebook. My special interests in French are poetry, literature, and phonetics.I appreciate the power of studying. I worked hard to understand these subjects, and I can help you or your child understand them too. I have helped many a classmate edit his essay, or grasp a tricky rule in French, and eventually earn a good grade in the class he was failing. Everyone has specific learning needs, so I provide a personalized approach to tutoring that focuses on building study skills and laying a firm foundation from which the student will be able to grow.My first passion was English. It is my favorite subject to tutor, and on my days off you can find me writing about the last movie I watched. I also love reading novels; baking; playing with my two cats, Miss Fisher and Tyrion; playing board games; and snowboarding.
