I struggled with math all through high school before calculus. At that point something clicked. I learned to love it, and while I majored in Biochemistry at first, I kept taking math courses because I had a real passion for learning about mathematics. Eventually, I changed my major to math and began tutoring Calculus II at my university. Now I manage Calculus I and II tutors, but to keep my skills fresh, I am tutoring through Varsity. My name is Caitlyn Broderick and I am a recent graduate from George Washington University where I obtained my Masters degree in Anthropology. I have been teaching for 6 years now and love it so much! Academia is my passion and being able to help a student succeed in a subject they are struggling in means so much to me. I tutor a broad range of subjects but I am most passionate about social studies, science, and english! I am a Biological Sciences major with a minor in Spanish studies at Clemson University. I am currently on the premedical track and I aspire to be a dermatologist! I am on the Presidents List, an award given to students who earn a 4.0, therefore I am confident in my knowledge. I studied at University of Carabobo in Venezuela where I got my Bachelor's Degree in Education majoring in English as a Second Language. I have been in the Education field for about 12 years now. And I have worked with students 11 and up, all the way from beginners to advanced. I have recently moved to the US and I have decided to teach Spanish. As an ESL teacher I have gotten the tools and techniques students need to achieve their goals in which ever their interested are whether it is speaking, reading, listening or writing. I am a very flexible teacher and I like my classes go fun and dynamic. Always on an Academic environment.

Growing up, I was always curious about how things worked- from cars & planes to structures and computers. I therefore decided to pursue (and graduated with) a degree in Engineering at UCONN in Connecticut. I currently tutor middle school math, algebra, k-12 english, writing, and essay editing. Even as an engineer, my favorite subject to tutor is writing because I get to help people communicate and find their voice. Understanding how to relay a message to a targeted audience is a an amazing skill to have in any job or industry.I have a passion for teaching students to be their own goal-setters and problem-solvers, that have a drive to tackle anything that life throws their way. We can achieve anything we set our minds to when we are dedicated and put in the effort!One of the things I am currently learning how to do is to play the piano, and I can tell you first hand that practice and determination does make a difference! Outside of tutoring, I also love to dance, ski, and watch airplanes! Hope we can connect sometime soon. :)

As a teacher with 14 years of experience, I still remember what it was like as a student. Some classes were difficult and once I got behind, it was hard for me to catch up. The teachers that were patient and explained concepts clearly were my favorite teachers. That is the type of teacher I have become. I aim to help all students of all levels by explaining the learning objectives in an easy to digest fashion. I also aim to put the students in the center by asking them a lot of questions so I can ensure they understand the learning content. Students feel very comfortable with the questions I ask because I am extremely patient with every question. If the student gives a wrong answer or an answer I possibly disagree with, then we go over it together to find another solution. I do this because I remember being afraid to ask questions in class because I didn't want to embarrass myself. My students never feel embarrassed; they feel respected, they feel they are becoming smarter, they feel more confident.Let me tell you a little more about myself. I have taught many subjects over my career. I have taught ESL, English Language and Composition, English Literature, American History, and World History. I have also taught Mandarin Chinese. I lived in China for many years. In fact, my wife is from China, and we communicate in Chinese daily.My received a degree in History and a master's degree in International Studies. These subjects have always interested me and that is why I studied them. I feel grateful that I can now teach them in school with my students. I am a lifelong learner that constantly learn new ideas every day and plan to for the rest of my life. I am also humble and know that I don't know everything. In fact, I learn from my students all the time. This makes teaching the ideal job for me.I look forward to working with you!

I have taught in Broward County, Florida, in Fort Mill Public Schools as a substitute, and now at a private school in Charlotte.I am an avid reader and knitter, and enjoy being outdoors as much as possible with my 9 year old daughter.
