I have a Bachelor of Science in Genetics, Cell Biology, and Development with a focus on secondary education from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. I specialize in tutoring middle school, high school, and college-aged students in life science subjects. I believe science is an important tool for understanding the world around us and stimulates intrinsically motivated learning. While memorizing facts can improve grades, giving students the tools and motivation to learn for themselves will bring exponential self-improvement in and out of the classroom. I have several years of professional tutoring experience, working with students of all ages in subjects including science, math, and ACT English.

Also, I worked as a Mentor Tutor at the McNamara Academic Center at the University of Minnesota and my responsibilities included ensuring that student-athletes utilize the resources necessary to build the essential skills for their pursuit of a degree, serving as a role model, and guiding student-athletes.Before attending the University of Minnesota, I was a student at Century College and graduated with an Associate in Arts with a concentration in Liberal Arts and Sciences. My courses work included English, physics, biology, mathematics, history, anthropology, and intercultural and interpersonal communication. While working on my degree, I worked as a Spanish Tutor and my responsibilities included facilitating small group conversations, tutoring one-on-one students, reviewing class material, preparing review guides, and conversing in a foreign language. My philosophy on education centers on an active approach as I engage my students in discussions, activities and higher-lever thinking. I am currently a student at the University of Colorado Boulder studying Astrophysics. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I am completing my degree from my home in Minnesota! When I graduate, I am hoping to go on to obtain a master's in education and become a licensed teacher. I want to see a world of educational equity and I think tutoring is a great way to get there. I believe it is important to get to know every student, their learning style, and what they need from a tutor before beginning the actual tutoring so the sessions can be more personalized. I love to help in areas of math and science, specifically physics and calculus are my strong points.

I am in my fourth year as a math education and math double major at Winona State University in Winona, MN. I have worked for about four years as a University math tutor and have tutored classes ranging from college Algebra to introductory real analysis. I also have a lot of experience working with middle and high school age students through my field experiences. Why math is strongest subject, I tutor some statistics and computer science (Python is my favorite language) courses. Most importantly, I love learning and teaching others about math!My favorite subject to tutor is Calculus, in particular Calculus 1, because I love the depth of intuition one can achieve by thinking about topics visually. I classify my teaching/tutoring style as Experimentalist, in the sense of John Dewey, because I believe that learning is best done through hands-on experience. I recognize that students' learning styles vary drastically, so I love implementing a number of educational techniques, be they aural, visual, or kinesthetic, to maximize student engagement with content. My extra-academic interests include learning about mathematics recreationally, watching movies and TV shows, and playing video games.

I have always a passion for curiosity. The buzzword "lifelong learner" has been around the education world for quite some time. But I want to have a lifelong curiosity. I always want to know things work and how to better understand things. I bring that same passion for curiosity to everything that I do, especially teaching and tutoring. Nothing brings me greater joy than being able to bring someone closer to their capability. My biggest teaching motto has been: "I don't teach based on what I know my students can already. I teach based on where I know they are capable of going and what they are capable of doing." I believe that people should always strive to know more. Curiosity makes the world a better and, frankly, a more fun place. If I can instill that lifelong curiosity into even one of my students, I would have reached success.I also firmly believe that conversation is a huge part of a successful teaching/learning process. No one knows how the students learn better than the students themselves. I constantly check in with how students are doing, often before I tell them how I think they are doing. This constantly dialogue allows us to form a better connection and does nothing but allow me to teach and the student learn better. I want to know their goals, interests, hobbies, learning styles, and anything and everything in between. This process is not a dictatorship but a partnership.I look forward to getting know my students and helping them on their educational journey!!!!

I attended Denison University in Ohio where I earned a B.A. in psychology, summa cum laude, with a minor in music performance (trumpet). I was a department fellow and tutor, primarily working with psychology and writing students, and also worked as a stage manager in the music department. After college, I headed to The Ohio State University where I earned a Ph.D. in cognitive psychology with a specialization in college teaching. While I was a graduate student, I taught general psychology and ACT prep courses and scored ACT and SAT writing exams. Thanks to my education, I am an expert in psychology, reading, writing, and general scientific literacy. As a teacher and a tutor, I have worked with students ranging from children to doctoral degree candidates. I like tutoring students individually because it allows me to tailor my approach to each student in a way that I could never do in a classroom. Outside of my work, I enjoy listening to music, bicycling, cooking, and occasionally playing my trumpet.

I am a third-year student at Bethel University, studying to receive my Bachelor's degree in Mathematics Education for grades 5-12. I have worked as a teacher's assistant for 5 semesters, and have been an individual tutor as well. I've always been passionate about learning and teaching, and never pass up an opportunity to help a friend out with their homework. I had the opportunity to observe a British secondary school during my study abroad term this past January, which I found to be an enjoyable and enlightening experience. I am a firm believer that education is of critical importance in both personal development and becoming an influential person in this world. In my free time, you could find me singing in Bethel's top choir, or talking with a friend over a cup of coffee.

To help provide students with resources and knowledge in order for them to succeed in whatever subject they are currently struggling in.I'm currently a 3rd year Biomedical Engineering student who goes to the Georgia Institute of Technology. I'm a pre-medical student with a goal of becoming a physician. To reach this stage, I have had to do a lot of studying. Material doesn't naturally click with me, and I have done a lot of studying to understand it. I understand that sometimes extra tutoring is needed to help excel in a subject, and it is completely okay to get that help. I'm here to help students whose position I was previously in.
