Hey! My name is Dane Lacey. I'm from the US, but currently studying in Germany. I have over three years of experience teaching and tutoring college-level mathematics. I have two dogs (Sawyer and Joey) and a cat (Kit).My college experience started out taking concurrent enrollment classes while in high school. After I graduated high school, I taught in Zhongshan, China for four months. Then I returned home and finished my A.S. Mathematics at the same community college I took my concurrent classes through in High School. Right after that, I transferred to the University of Utah where I completed my B.S. Applied Mathematics. Now, I am working on a Ph.D. Mathematics while I travel around Europe with my family.I am in love with the beauty of mathematics, and being able to help other people understand it! Being able to use programming to solve math problems is really cool, and being able to use math to solve programming problems is even better. But the absolute best part about my work (and sort of the end goal, in my mind) is being able to use math AND programming together to solve real-world problems and communicate this valuable information to others in an understandable way.

As a college student actively working towards my bachelors of science at Brigham Young University, I can honestly say that I've never been more excited about learning than I am right now. There is simply so much I don't know, and every day is a new opportunity to change that. My passion for growth has taken me to places like Spain, Mexico, and very soon, Ecuador. It has taught me a new language: Spanish, which I now speak fluently and which has become one of my two majors. It has even paid for my college education, and I am confident it will open many more doors for me in the future.I tutor because I want others to have what I have, and because I recognize the value of one-on-one instruction in an education system which has become altogether too streamlined and generalized to allow for any deep conceptualization without additional effort on the student's part. Over the past 5 years, I've gained experience privately tutoring students from 1st-12th grade in subjects ranging from simple math to AP Chemistry. I am capable of tutoring a variety of subjects including basic and complex math, English, biology, and chemistry. I am most passionate about teaching math, I find it rewarding to the confidence of students to grow as they become better at math. I'm hoping to earn my Ph.D in Linguistics by 2022, and my Master's in Computer Science by 2021. Outside of school, I regularly practice Krav Maga, Choy Li Fut (Israeli and Chinese martial arts, respectively), and ballet.In 2015, earned an associate's degree in French language from Southwestern College in Chula Vista, CA. Other than that, I have been studying Mandarin Chinese since early 2015, Italian since 2007, and grew up speaking Spanish and English at home. I hold degrees from George Mason University (in Virginia), Boise State University (in Idaho), and Roskilde Universitet (in the country of Denmark!). I have been a professor of geology for about 10 years. When I'm not in class, I spend a lot of time traveling to National Parks.
