Teaching is my passion, and I am never happier than when I am helping students make sense of new information. In my courses, I always try to explain the new words and sentences in a cultural background, for example, when we were learning the character for "study," I tried to depict an vivid picture for them. I told my students, the strokes on the top of this character stands for the adults holding woods with their bare hands trying to build a safe house for their kids, thus the kids could go to this safe place to learn new knowledge, and this is why you can see a "kid" at the bottom of the character. From my explanation, the students could not only remember this character, but also figured out the original educational philosophy of China. Furthermore, students could make comparison between Chinese teaching philosophy and American teaching philosophy, and this made them understand China more profoundly.I have taught many courses including AP Chinese, Chinese in speech and writing (elementary, intermediate, and advanced), oral Chinese proficiency (level 1 and 2), Chinese characters (level 1 and 2), and business Chinese. Some of my areas of expertise that I have done direct research and projects are international trade, and financial valuation. These included introductory monte Carlo and DCF models. I have written books, professional articles, and podcast episodes over many years. For three years, my college admissions podcast (USACollegeChat) reached thousands of prospective college students and their parents. My specialties are improving grammar, punctuation, and capitalization; writing concise and engaging sentences; building perfect paragraphs; and putting together an essay that is meaningful and persuasive. I love to help others improve their writing and believe that there is no way to do that other than over-the-shoulder working together. Many of my students would tell you that they have never had a teacher/counselor who cared about them more than I did. I am most proud of that!
