I am an award-winning writer with 14 professionally-published stories, and I’m currently working on my third novel. I love to read epic fantasy novels like Lord of the Rings, but I also love any writing that’s well-crafted or makes you think, like Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 or Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird.I teach because I fell in love with that “aha” moment when a concept clicks and you can see on someone’s face that they “get it.” I was raised by teachers, and I’ve always believed that anyone can succeed academically, no matter what their challenges, if they have the motivation to keep working and a skilled mentor who believes in their potential. My students are not just successful; they exceed their expectations because I help them see and build on their strengths.One of my favorite teaching stories is about a young man who “hated” poetry. About a week after I read one of his poems in class and talked about all the things he was doing right, he brought me a notebook with poems he had written on his own; he had become a poet.I’ve been teaching for 16 years. I started out working as a tutor in the college writing center at the University of Oklahoma for 4 years, helping students understand assignments, revise essays, write resumes, and perfect research papers. During and after college, I volunteered teaching English as a Second Language to international students at OSU, OU, and Fairmont State University, and I also taught English overseas in Riga, Latvia and Buenos Aires, Argentina for two summers. I’ve taught Pre-AP and on-level World Literature for 6 years at Moore High School, where I helped students with grammar, literary analysis, creative writing, and reading comprehension. I taught an intersession literary analysis class for the University of Oklahoma for three semesters. Most recently, I’ve tutored individual high school, middle school, and elementary students who needed extra support in reading, writing essays, or coaching to pass a big exam.In my spare time, I like to try new things, like kayaking, learning tai chi, listening to indie bands, wandering through art galleries, or making food from other countries.I look forward to meeting you!

I know to break down long-term aspirations into manageable, short-term goals. I also know what it takes to effectively prepare for testing. As an ACT tutor, I take a two-pronged approach. On one end, the students get a high volume of practice problems, adapting to and reviewing the content of each subject. On the other end is strategy-oriented coaching. The students learn how to effectively approach the test with good timing and prioritization. I also enjoy tutoring a variety of other subjects, such as Spanish.I think being an effective learner and student (in and beyond the context of schooling) is integral part of human life. I also have an Associate's degree in Economics from the University Hampate Ba in Abidjan (Ivory Coast)I am actually studying two get 2 certificates in public health and humanitarian management.I have a two years experience as a French tutor for the Modern Language Department of the University of Central Oklahoma.My favorite subject to tutor is French for the reason that I am a native speaker. I also have years of experience teaching Arabic to elementary and middle school students at a private school in Tulsa, as well as teaching Arabic to adult learners at Sunday schools.I master three languages: Arabic , French and English. While attending school I worked as a Programs Assistant for the US Department of the Army developing and implementing programs for kids, for after school and in the summer. I went on to work for the Department of the USMC in the same capacity. I've spent the last 10 years teaching a combination of Elementary Education, Physical Education and Art. I also have my own business and I teach Tumbling/Gymnastics classes. To say that I enjoy teaching kids is an understatement. I am proud to have the opportunity to positively impact even just one child. My strengths in teaching are English, Literature, writing, reading and History test prep. I have 13 years experience teaching, mentoring and tutoring General and Special Education students. I have a BS in Speech Pathology with a minor in American Sign Language. I have serviced students with mild to severe cases of Mental Retardation, Cerebral Palsy, Asperger's and Autism. I have facilitated language using American Sign Language (ASL) and Augmentative Communication Devices for nonverbal, deaf and hard of hearing students. I have volunteered in Teen Building Groups as a mentor/motivator encouraging students to do their best in spite of their current obstacles. I have excellent communication, interpersonal, multitasking, organization and problem solving skills. I work well without supervision and I accurately perform challenging tasks with precision and attention to details.

I have been teaching Chemistry for several years and love teaching it because every day I learn new things. I love teaching. Besides teaching Chemistry I also like to work with Computers and teaching Algebra and Spanish Language.
