I graduated from SUNY Albany in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts Cum Laude with a concentration in History, specifically World History, and a minor in Sociology. I finished graduate school in 2014 and received a Master of Arts in Teaching: Social Studies with Honors. I am a hard-working, self motivated educator who is constantly looking to gain experience and sharpen my skills.I have experience teaching 7th grade U.S. History and 12th grade Economics during my time as a student teacher and have experience with my own classroom as a leave replacement in a 9th grade Global History I class. In addition I have worked as a substitute in a variety of classes with students ranging from grades 6-12.Learning does not have to be boring. In fact, I believe it should be something both the student and teacher enjoy. If the teacher is enjoying the subject, the activities and lessons will be presented with more passion and energy. That is something I try to bring to each and every student. If the student is interested and engaged in the material, he or she will have a much easier time remembering the content and become self-motivated to want to learn more. I also strongly believe that each student has his or her own way of learning. Once I get to know a student and figure out what he or she likes or dislikes, I can cater my teaching to fit his or her preferences and enhance the learning experience. I am readily available and comfortable tutoring students from grades 6-12 in History and also Middle School Mathematics.Outside of teaching, I am interested in sports and fitness, cooking, traveling, and science. I am generally curious and love to learn as well as teach.

I am a native New Yorker and a dual citizen of the US and Spain. I am a recent graduate from the School of Diplomacy and International Relations at Seton Hall University. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in May 2019 with a triple major in Diplomacy and International Relations, Modern Languages (French and Russian), and Economics with a minor and certificate in Russian and Eastern European Studies. At Seton Hall, I was a Teaching Assistant for both Elementary and Intermediate Russian and I also tutored several students in French and Spanish. In July 2019, I was selected as a Fulbright Scholar to Moldova and attended orientation. In September 2019, I flew to Moldova and began my Fulbright journey. During my time in Moldova, I was an English and Spanish professor at a university called Comrat State University. The students in my classes were very diverse in terms of ages and languages. They ranged from high school students to the mayor of the city of Comrat and included Russian, Romanian, Turkish, Ukrainian, Bulgarian and Gagauz speakers. I also taught English classes to kids on Saturdays at a local gym and at a local language school. In addition, I taught an English for Business class to local business owners and local government employees. My grant ended abruptly due to Covid-19 and I am now back in New York City. While I tutor and love a broad range of subjects, I would say I am most passionate about Math, World History, and Foreign Languages. I speak Spanish, French, Russian and some basic Romanian and Turkish and I hope to become fluent in as many languages as I can. I especially love Foreign Languages because every new language means more people you can talk to, more friends you can make, and even more music you can listen to. I am a firm believer that learning should be fun and global and I try to teach that to all my students. In my spare time, I love cooking new recipes in the kitchen, going out with friends, traveling, swimming, playing chess, and listening to music.

I am a graduate of the University of Florida (UF), with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Cell Sciences. As an aspiring physician, I am currently working within the healthcare field, while simultaneously applying to medical schools. From my experiences tutoring for the UF Department of Biochemistry, I have witnessed firsthand the amazing feats a student can reach with the proper direction and confidence. I am so passionate about being an educator because this role allows me to help individuals unlock their fullest potentials and chase their dreams. Going through these rigorous courses myself, I wish I had someone to support me throughout the process. As a Varsity Tutor, I am here to make sure that you have that person that will be in your corner. Working with students on subjects such as biochemistry, biology, and chemistry, I believe we can overcome any academic obstacle with teamwork. My sessions revolve around engagement and interaction because I want my students to be active, not passive, in the learning process. From practice problems to games, I love to reinforce classroom material in ways that instill confidence and make our time together enjoyable.

Das Laecheln, dass du aussendest kommt immer wieder zurueck. - The smile you are giving is always coming back to you. (indian proverbs)I believe whatever you do, do it with a smile or don't do it at all. Life is too short to be upset about it. If you are struggling on something work on it, don't waste your time in complaining about. Only the ones who work hard, succeed. It might take some sacrifices but it will be worth it in the end.

I am an endlessly curious person who genuinely enjoys learning and teaching. My favorite part about tutoring is the chance to meet new and interesting people and share in the process of learning and understanding. The subjects I am most passionate about are music, ELL/ESL, culture and language learning in general.Music is a big part of my life - I am a violinist, music teacher and performer. I also enjoy traveling and getting to know other cultures and their languages. I lived in Beijing, China for 4 years and also in Quito, Ecuador for 4 years and learned to speak both Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.During my time in China, I tutored many students in English and developed a real respect for the difficulties of learning this language! But it is also fascinating and opens the doors to so many opportunities. I know that students pursuing this goal work hard and I am excited to help them achieve it to the best of their ability.Regarding my experience as a music teacher I have taught beginning to advanced violin, viola, cello and bass as well as both SL and HL IB Music (which includes in depth work in music history, theory and analysis). I also work as an IB Examiner, giving me a unique perspective on the range of talent around the world in this area. IB Music is a particularly comprehensive course but when approached well, very rewarding in terms of it's benefits to your understanding and appreciation of music.
