Math can be EASY and I pride myself on teaching math in such a way that makes it easy to understand and remember, or at least that's what my students have told me. The traditional approach doesn't work for everyone, each person is different and I personalize my instruction to match the learning style of each student...allowing each student to experience success and confidence in the subject.I have taught math for over 17 years in Colorado, Hawaii, and Arizona; I have a BA in Communications from the University of Colorado, a MAED in Secondary Mathematics Education, and I have achieved the Highly Qualified Teacher status on my Arizona teaching license. I have taught everything from Pre-Algebra through Calculus. My favorite subjects are Geometry and Algebra 2 (3/4 in some schools). Outside of math, I spent many years coaching high school cheer in both Honolulu and Scottsdale.

I received my Master of Arts in International Development at Clark University. During my time at Clark, I focused extensively on intercultural communication, international affairs and development, policy, education, and diving into economics. I have worked within a variety of community colleges as an instructor and spent a lot of time working with high school-aged students on career development and tutoring a variety of subjects.Currently, I am a high school teacher where I teach and tutor students on subjects such as Social Studies, Economics, Global Studies, Government, US Government, Yearbook, and Dual Credit courses.Prior to my time at Clark University I spent a significant amount of time in Germany, so I am also able to tutor or teach German as well. I have a bachelor's degree in German as a foreign language and also worked at the University in Tubingen where I supported foreign students. I enjoy working with students very much in helping them to achieve their goals academically and personally, in each of the areas that I teach. To help make learning more engaging I like to create games for students to learn their subjects in a more accessible manner. I also do my best to find ways to connect what they enjoy to help them learn and look for the best ways to support the whole student in their learning journey.

I am a graduate of Arizona State University. I received my Bachelor degree in Elementary Education. Since graduation, I have started school at Northern Arizona University. I am completing my Masters in Continuing Elementary Education. I am in my fourth year of teaching at a Title 1 school here in the valley. In addition to teaching fourth and fifth grade, I have taught before and after school Reading and Math classes. I especially have enjoyed teaching our before and after school classes because I get to work one-on-one with the students. Although I enjoy teaching a variety of subjects, Reading is my passion! My teaching style is enthusiastic, loving, and engaging! I believe that each individual learner is different, therefore, it is crucial to use a variety of teaching strategies with students. I believe that using hands on manipulatives, comparing material being taught to real-life situations, and students having the ability to explain their thinking are key elements to learning. Aside from teaching I am an active person who loves to travel and spend time with family and friends. I also enjoy photography, paying the guitar and reading.

I am a Summa Cum Laude ("with highest distinction") graduate of California State University, Sacramento. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology, with a strong focus on research and academic writing. I am currently earning my Master of Social Work from Simmons University. During my time at CSU Sacramento, I tutored high school and college students from the Sacramento area, San Francisco Bay area, and Greater Los Angeles area. I supported high school students in their preparation for ACT/SAT English and writing exams. I helped my college students learn new writing styles, improve their understanding of APA/MLA formatting, and edit their papers for the highest grade possible. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most interested in Psychology, English, Writing, and Research Methods. In my experience, students who struggle with Standardized Testing tend to enjoy the learning process most when collaborating alongside me, instead of my teaching being imposed on them. I value my students' feedback, effort, and teamwork in creating lesson plans that work for them! I feel strongly that learning should be a fun, enriching process that engages students in critical thinking. I try my best to keep all of my tutoring lessons as entertaining and engaging as possible! It has been most rewarding to see my students' grades go from Cs and Ds to As and Bs. In my free time, I enjoy reading books on my Kindle, listening to true crime podcasts, going on road trips, and hanging out with my dogs.

I have taken some other courses in undergraduate Biblical Studies, MBA with HR, and graduate theology. I have 5 years of student advising from Grand Canyon University where I trained students in online college writing essays and prep for APA/ Turabian format styles. I have worked through ages from 18-50s of students that want to continue and advance themselves in their college education. I am currently in the process and works of getting my Master's in Clinical Counseling.As for tutoring, I want to help students learn and enjoy English, Writing, and Psychology!I have additional knowledge and expertise in providing tutoring for middle school math and high school writing which is in MLA format.I can do more than simply help students with homework. My approach to aiding them is three-fold.1. I am will review and reteach the material that you have difficulty with.2. Diagnose what instructional methods you are learning through and what gaps are needed to be filled.3. I am a student of Mathematics and I'm going into my third year of study. Math is more than just a subject in school to me. It is a way of thinking that helps people in their everyday lives. That concept is what drives me when I tutor. Formulas and equations have their use and value, but the critical thinking that can be gained from the study of math is much more important. I have had success in showing students from where the formulas come and encouraging a deeper understanding of the topic at hand. I believe education in STEM related fields is vital in our society with the steep advancements in technology, and all STEM fields require a solid understanding of Math.
