I am a graduate of Northwestern University, where I received my Bachelor's degrees in Voice Performance and Language Studies, and I recently finished my Master's degree at the University of Maryland, College Park. My studies have focused on music, reading, writing, foreign languages, and translation theory. I am a passionate learner and teacher, finding mentorship to be extremely rewarding and seeking out opportunities to help individual students learn, develop confidence, and grow. As an Advisor at Northwestern University's Office of Undergraduate Research, I tutored over 100 students of diverse disciplines per year, working with them privately on their writing and their research ideas. My students' growth was undeniable, as the office saw a huge jump in successful grant applications and nearly tripled its number of successful applications in both the humanities and arts areas (whose students were almost entirely assigned to me). I have also co-taught Northwestern University classes through this office. As a private music/performance teacher, I have taught voice and piano as well as tutoring in the areas of music theory/history and even public speaking. Having spent a cumulative six years working in collegiate admissions, I am an excellent resource in the areas of test prep and college counseling, and I am extremely passionate about preparing students for their college journeys. While my tutoring focuses on reading, writing, college counseling, and music, I truly enjoy teaching a wide variety of subjects and age groups, ranging from elementary math to foreign language (as a native speaker, French is particularly fun for me, though I also speak German and Italian) and even to test prep. I believe that a successful tutor must be dependable, encouraging, prepared, and adaptable to the needs of individual students; I work hard to bring these traits to my own lessons. When not teaching, I enjoy singing opera, reading poetry, hiking, and cheering on the Wildcats during football season!

I am a 2013 graduate of Juniata College. I graduated with honors and received my Bachelor of Science in Biology. During my undergraduate I was a peer tutor for several subjects including several biology and chemistry courses. Additionally, I ran biology discussion groups for freshman biology students. These were small group sessions for 15-20 students where we would go over concepts from lecture, homework, review for exams, and discuss study strategies to enhance learning. Since graduation, I have worked on several research projects in biomedical science, including an international public health project in India. I am passionate about learning and education and enjoy helping others discover the joy in educational exploration. I use my enthusiasm for learning and intense attention to my students to find individualized ways to inspire them to find their own passion for education. I am currently working as a veterinary technician and hope to attend veterinary school. In my spare time I enjoy reading, cuddling with my cat, running and hiking.

Learning is a challenge. As a current student, I know and I want to help you to stay motivated and to reach your goals.I make a great tutor because I am personable and approachable; people are always asking me for assistance in my lab classes and doing problems in class. Additionally, my friends and coworkers trust me to proofread their essays and articles for clients. I am also a student, so I can better relate to the current teaching methods. Finally, I am brilliant and an expert test taker. I was in the top 3% of high school scholars in California, and I have continually made the deans list while taking both science and arts and humanities classes in college. In high school, I tutored freshman in math and english as part of my Key Club requirements. Additionally, in my previous jobs, I have loved training and teaching new hires.

I completed my Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration at Stevenson University. I enjoy tutoring because I understand how difficult school can be sometimes. It is always fun to find different ways to help understand the information. My strong studies have always been in English, Literature, and Writing, so I am eager to help anyone help anyone that is having difficulty. I have a fair bit of knowledge with IT as well. For my hobbies, I enjoy reading, watching movies, playing video games, playing with my puppy, and traveling. I grew up traveling quite frequently due to my parent's military background, so I try to take a couple of trips each year.

I am a current student at the Johns Hopkins University and have been tutoring juniors and peers over the last 4 years. I am a double major in chemistry and creative writing which helps me explore my passions of writing and science equally. I have years of experience tutoring math and English, but enjoy learning about all subjects and disciplines. I am firm believer that the best way to easiest way to learn something is to learn to enjoy and it, however this can often mean different things for different students. I understand that any one style of teaching is not suited to every student and therefore believe that the best quality a tutor can have is adaptability.

Hi, there. I'm an experienced tutor who loves the English language and is skilled in teaching students from ages 6 to 60. My areas of tutoring expertise include language arts, English as a Second Language, research, reading, writing, composition, study habits, literature, verbal test prep and the humanities. So often in learning situations, we only hear about what we are doing wrong. That's no way to motivate people! I use a lot of positive feedback, encouragement and praise to show students what they already know and increase their appetite for learning. My goal is to empower students to build both knowledge and strategies to find knowledge. I've helped people of all ages and from all fields improve their reading comprehension and learn to polish their essays, themes, resumes, blogs, business proposals, lab reports and dissertations. If your class or project has a writing or reading component, I can help. I graduated magna cum laude from University of Maryland with a degree in English and I hold a graduate degree from Earlham School of Religion. I worked as a reporter and editor for five years before pursuing a career in pastoral care. I love helping people learn to use our rich language to communicate and build connections and I enjoy being able to impact students' lives in an immediate way.
