I earned a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education in 2008 from Jacksonville State University and will graduate this year with an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from The University of Alabama. I have taught 6th grade Reading, Comprehension, and Writing for 12 years and have been a middle school administrator for the last two years. That was such a blessing and helped me in so many ways. We were imersed in the healthcare of the country, worked in public and private hospitals, the health department, hospice, home health, and spoke to the nursing class at the Nelson Mandela School of Nursing and participated in a round table with the Prime Minister of Health at the Health Department in Port Elizabeth. OMG what a once in a lifetime experience that I will always treasure. Even though we were working, it was so exciting to see the culture of healthcare in such an amazing place. Learning about the customs, needs, wishes, and mannerisms of the healthcare system as well as seeing how much we have in common, just in a somewhat different way. That experience was one I will always cherish. I began my career in education in 2012 at the Brookfield Zoo, where I spent over 1,000 talking to guests of all ages about animals and the importance of wildlife conservation. As a volunteer educator, the most fulfilling moments for me were when I saw a guest light up with excitement, and sharing the joy that I find in nature.I graduated with high distinction from the University of Minnesota with a B.S. in conservation biology and dual minors in communications and animal behavior. While I adore my students, my goal is always for them to stop needing me.
