I am a graduate student at St. Thomas University studying Criminal Justice. I previously graduated with my Bachelor's degree in May 2017. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice with a certification in Homeland Security. I have a lot of experience working with students both at Carol City Middle School mentoring them and giving them academic advice to succeed as well as coaching volleyball at Florida Suns Volleyball Academy. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English and Writing. I think it is very powerful to have a well-written essay. I am a firm proponent of academic success. I completed my undergraduate degree in 3 years and I would love to help students on a path of their own. In my spare time, I enjoy playing volleyball, reading, exercising, watching Netflix, and playing with animals! I was a volleyball athlete for 12 years of my life and the aspect of teamwork and hard work has shaped me into the person I am today.

My name is Ametha Williams and I have been a public school teacher for 15 years. I am certified to teach in grades K-6, Middle School Science grades 7-8, English grades 7-12, Math grades 7-12, and History grades 7-12. The bulk of my educational experience has been teaching Math and Science in grades K-6. During my time as an elementary and middle school teacher, I was chair of the Math and Science departments where part of my duties involved organizing after-school tutoring programs for students who were at risk of failing. I believe that all students can learn and achieve, it is up to teachers to provide students with the support needed to reach their goals.

My approach to teaching is an active one. I engage students in discussions that foster higher level thinking. I believe all children can learn, therefore I have high expectations for my students. It is always my duty to create an atmosphere that is conducive to learning. I include interesting learning activities into my lessons that grab the attention of the learners and inspire them to learn. I like for the students I encounter to explore meaning, engage in critical thinking, and conduct their own experiences. My ultimate goal is to improve student achievement with a quality of instruction that prepares students to influence the future.

I earned my undergraduate degrees in History and English in 2000 from the University of Memphis and my Masters of Arts in Teaching from Ole Miss in 2005. I have been teaching since 2001. Along with French, I have significant hours of study in university-level German. I am conversationally fluent in other languages such as: Spanish, Italian, Norwegian, and Mandarin Chinese. In addition to my foreign language study, I am certified to teach English to non-native English speakers (TESOL). Furthermore, I have a wide knowledge of various fields in linguistics such as: Phonetics/Phonology, Syntax, Sociolinguistics, Second Language Acquisition, and Romance Phonetics.As for my future, I am working the Master of Business Administration. With an MBA and my understanding of foreign languages and their respective cultures, I aspire to take part in today's growing global market. Given my desire to be abroad and my experience with other cultures, I look forward to working with others both domestically and internationally.

I implement different learning methods to help students in ways that best fit their learning styles.I graduated from Mississippi State University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and I am currently pursuing a Master of Biomedical Sciences degree at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.I am dedicated to helping students achieve their academic goals in biology, math, psychology, life sciences, and environmental sciences.
