AP Spanish Language & Culture Tutor • +8 Subjects
I graduated with a degree in Modern Languages and Culture from Kennesaw State University, in Georgia. Since I was a kid I have had a tremendous passion for learning languages and always wanted to follow a career in that path. I started learning English when I was in first grade. I was a Spanish tutor at the language lab of the university, where every day I helped students who came in and needed assistance with any topics, from grammar and pronunciation questions, to test preparations and final projects assistance. I enjoy my work of helping others with languages and find it very helpful to do, as learning foreign languages has become more and more common in our workplace. I am also a native Spanish speaker, born in Colombia. I have a vast experience with all sorts of topics in Spanish, from vocabulary and grammar structure to final exam preparations. I have worked with all group ages and with individual students, as well as large groups. I am very patient and easy-going, as I had to learn languages myself! I have five years of tutoring experience with college students, graduate students, and retired professionals. I have flexible time options and a great passion for sharing my language knowledge with students! I am willing to do anything to help my students and make sure they are understanding the material and making them feel more comfortable with the language after every session!

I strive to embrace the quote, "Be the change you want to see.” I believe the best way to spark change is through education. This is why I am passionate about not only my own academic growth but also assisting others in their academic endeavors. I am a graduate of Georgia Tech with over five years of tutoring experience in technical fields ranging from elementary Algebra to college-level Physics. Currently, I work as a Engineer with an Energy Consulting firm in Metropolitan Atlanta. One of my greatest joys has been working with young people or peers and seeing their excitement when they gain an understanding of how to solve a problem that was once a struggle. Experiences such as these have equipped me with the ability to relate to and assist people of all ages and from all walks of life. As a tutor, I am a firm believer that anything is possible if you are willing to work hard. This belief combined with my willingness to understand the challenges faced by the student, and to work with them through those challenges, makes me certain that I would make significant contributions to your success as a tutor and would welcome to opportunity to meet with you.

I love explaining difficult science concepts in a way that is easier and simpler to understand. I pride myself on personalizing each tutoring session to the individual goals and interests of the students.I have also spent 6 months tutoring elementary schoolers, giving me experience tutoring elementary age students in all subjects. I first started tutoring when I was 16 years old, when I overheard a lady confide to my mother that her 5th grade child was struggling in math and she didn't know how to help him. Growing up, I didn't know too many people who could or would tutor. I politely interrupted and asked what was he struggling with. That was the beginning of a volunteer peer-tutoring club. I never stopped tutoring.I use content-rich humor and visual aids and, if needed, audio reinforcement to help my students conquer various problems and retain what they learned. (The kids I have worked with really laughed when I would beatbox a formula- they told me they would never forget the formula-or that moment). I don't give students answers to homework problems, I build in those I tutor the knowledge, skills and effective methods needed to solve their own problems. I also work with students who struggle with testing anxiety. I enjoy tutoring students for the ACT and SAT, and have had tremendous success with these students.
