After high school, I began a home business while attending college. Throughout the last couple years, I have been increasingly seeking ways to enrich my skill-set and keep my mind sharp: I'd studied overseas, learned foreign languages, practiced coding and digital production. I received my Master of Science degree from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 2023. My bachelor's is a B.S. in Neuroscience from UCLA (2019). I love teaching! My lifelong teaching philosophy is that fostering growth and curiosity in others can lead to academic success.As for my own career goals, the current plan is applying to MD/PhD programs and PhD programs in the next two years for neurology or neuroscience. I currently work as a researcher at Kennedy Krieger Institute studying the molecular etiology and mechanisms of enterovirus-D68- mediate acute flaccid myelitis (AFM). My master's thesis was on ubiquitination and protein insolubility in model olfactory epithelial cells from patients with schizophrenia which correlates with poorer cognitive performance - a paper is in review for the high-impact journal Molecular Psychiatry.In my free time, I like to play piano, cook, make coffee, and learn about anything and everything. I came to St. Louis from New Jersey on a full 4 year basketball scholarship to Saint Louis University. I have been a college Mathematics Instructor for 20+ years. I have taught Mathematics online for 4+ years and I have tutored students in all levels of Mathematics for 20+ years. I am quite passionate about math and basketball. My 2 favorite topics to talk about. Although I like all sports and am an avid Cardinals and Blues fan as well.

My experience in tutoring environments entails working at a learning center teaching mathematics and serving as a volunteer in various mentorship and tutoring programs. While I have taught various subjects such as financial literacy and music, I especially love to work with students in mathematics as well as SAT preparation.In mathematics, I often feel that the way it is taught in schools can cause students to struggle with or lose interest in it. Additionally, a student cannot always have their questions or misunderstandings personally addressed in a classroom which can be particularly frustrating in math. I enjoy getting students excited about mathematics by helping them overcome difficulties in understanding that come from being in such an environment.As for the SAT, I believe that in my own endeavor to do well on it; I have developed approaches to and understandings of the test that will greatly help students preparing for it. The test can be rather daunting for a student so having someone to guide studying and the development of the skills necessary to do well on the SAT is greatly valuable.Outside of academics, music is a huge part of my life; I am an avid trumpet player and am part of a music-based fraternity. Additionally, I enjoy hikes and nature walks with my dog, video games, and television shows about cooking.
