I am a recent graduate from the University of South Florida with a degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, focusing in Sign Language Interpreting. In my free time, I enjoy kayaking, hiking, reading, and Netflix. I do my best to learn new things every day and do my best to improve the lives of others.

Tutoring has always been a passion of mine, I started in college just helping my friends through math and science classes, and when I was struggling trying to figure out what I wanted to do it helped me realize that I wanted to teach! I have been a teacher for the last 7 years, and am currently taking a break due moving, but I miss it every day. Throughout my last 5 years of teaching, I also tutored and realized that I love getting the opportunity to work with students 1:1 and help them understand something they may be struggling with. I have a Bachelor's of Science Degree from Alma College, in Alma, MI with a major in Chemistry and a minor in Mathematics as well as a Master's of Education Degree in Earth Science. I can tutor math for any grades (6-12) as well as general science for the younger grades, and Chemistry, Earth Science and Biology for high school. I also can tutor for ACT/SAT test prep for the Math or Science sections. My favorite subjects to tutor would have to be the ACT Math and Science exam prep or any math! I also really do love the science stuff too! I throughly believe that every student deserves the chance to understand everything they are being taught and I work hard to help every single student. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my friends, family and pets as well as reading and painting!

I am a doctoral candidate in the Technology in Education and Second Language Acquisition program at the University of South Florida, expected date of graduation is December of 2023. I obtained a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction of Spanish as a Foreign Language from USF in August of 2017. I earned a bachelor of science in Foreign Language Education - Spanish from the University of Central Florida in May of 2013. Throughout my ten years in the field of education, I have been a middle/high school Spanish teacher as well as a professor of undergraduate and graduate pre-service teacher candidates. My approach to learning is to ensure that the learner's socio-emotional or other basic needs (e.g., hunger, shelter) are met first, and then to get down to business with content area knowledge and practice. My communication style is to over-communicate because my background is primarily language-based and communication is often the key to breaking down barriers to learning opportunities.

As an educator, I believe an effective teacher should be passionate about their students learning and go above and beyond to meet their potential to become critical thinkers, risk takers, and to accept ownership in the learning process. Just because my days in the classroom are over doesn't mean I'm done with learning.I see myself as a student just like yourself, eager to teach and hungry to learn. I love to read write and tell stories, after all, I'm a storyteller... a filmmaker.As a kid I grew up playing soccer and making videos in my spare time. I still do these things and believe you're never too old to be a child at heartI believe that with a good attitude and a passionate mindset, anybody who is willing, can be the best at what they do. If that's your goal, then I want to help you achieve your dreams.
