I have a variety of experiences this world has offered me in which I am sure you will find I am a well-seasoned and opportune candidate in fostering your learning needs. From working with elementary-aged students in camps and afterschool programs, to advising and inspiring adolescents in environmental advocacy groups, all the way to assisting professors and undergraduates in their college coursework, you should have no doubt that my goal is to motivate you and give you the best experience possible! To tell you a little about myself... I'm a big fan of traveling and all that may entail. Trying new foods, hiking cliff-sides, exploring a new scene on my kayak, experiencing live music...you could say I'm a bit of an adventure buff! Meeting new people and healthy idea-exchange excites me; it all relates back to my upbringing, and henceforth why I think I am one of the best choices you could make.Prior to studying environmental engineering at Suffolk University, I developed strong roots in community engagement and environmental activism with the Gulf of Maine Institute. This was the beginning of what fueled my strong sense of commitment, dedicated service, and respect towards all. I I have worked in service oriented environments since the age of 14, and have not left the industry since. My passion to serve the Earth and its inhabitants has opened a countless number of doors for me, and I hope I can stir you to realize that you can do the same!No matter the task, I remain positive, and approachable. I truly believe that enriching and engaging the mind is protecting our Earth's best natural resource- and it all starts with education. At the end of the day, by promoting your intellect, I believe my job has been well done.

I am an Allegheny College graduate with BAs in both French and History and two years worth of teaching experience. I am very passionate about languages and history, but also about teaching in general; after working as a French Teacher's Assistant at Allegheny, volunteering in elementary school, and teaching university-level English in France, I have discovered how much I love helping others learn. As a liberal arts college graduate (my classes at Allegheny consisted of around 15 students each) I have firsthand experience getting individual, customized instruction directly from a teacher, so I know how valuable that attention is. I will bring passion, patience, and understanding to each tutoring session in order to attain optimal results. I look forward to meeting you!

I recently graduated Medical School after seven loooooong years (No pre-med... straight off to medschool- This is the Mexican system)I struggled a lot my first years of medical school. One... learning the medical language, Oh dear lord... It was soooo difficult learning how to change the term from "tummy ache" to "Gastrointestinal discomfort or Acute abdominal pain). This went on until I learned the etymology of the word, (believe me, It does help to know some easy and fun words from their greek, latin, french root) - If you want to ACE anatomy, this is important!Secondly, PHYSIOLOGY! i tried to ignore it, tried my best to get around and just do my own thing. Big mistake. After a while I started to integrate my reading into this magical and beautiful understanding on how or body works. It is a blissfully organized system.Learning pharmacology. Still struggle with that.So... I created stories, characters, songs, mnemotecnics, drawings, mind maps, flashcards.... you name it. I've done it.What works for me is not memorizing but really understanding the concept, apply it in my everyday life.Things started to make sense. It was an enlightment moment when I saw my first patient with Diabetes, I knew everything about it.Genetics, Pathophysiology, Presentation, Workup, Treatment plan and discussing with the patient what it means to have Diabetes. (It was sooo fun! )I would love to help you out during your training, exam week (we call it HELL-WEEK) and provide the tools necessary to help you accomplish your biggest dream (or just pass the exam...)After all of that reading, writing, not sleeping, drinking seven eleven coffee's in the middle of the night, I treat myself with things I am passionate about. I loooove to exercise (yoga, weight lifting, walking, biking, hiking) read good books (not that medical books are not good, but a little bit of Paulo Cohelo wont hurt me) singing, dancing playing the guitar. Laughing, eating, hanging out. BALANCE (or Homeostasis )I am currently doing research at Massachusetts General Hospital on Mind and Body medicine and its influence on a molecular, genetic, organ level) and I am sooo passionate about that. Life has to be interesting, changing things up... not everything is studying (I found it very difficult to understand this)I invite you to take part of this journey of self exploring and learning through diverse techniques that will enhance your comprehension while having fun doing so.

I am a recent graduate of Framingham State University. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology along with two minors in Psychology and Neuroscience. I also pursued the pre-medical tract and have a strong background in chemistry (general and organic) and physics. Since graduation, I have completed a course to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and I have been studying for the MCAT exam. While studying at Framingham State, I worked in the Center for Academic Services and Advising as a peer subject tutor in Biology for two years. I also held a position as a Biology Supplemental Instructor leader (SI), for two years. As an SI leader, I attended the introductory biology classes and created review and study sessions based on content covered in laboratory and in lecture. I also have three semesters of experience doing research and writing manuscripts. The final manuscript from my experiments was sent out for publication in June 2014! Before entering college, I took a two year course to become infant/toddler and preschool teacher certified. I have four years of experience working in daycare and preschools with younger children and helping prepare pre-kindergarten students for kindergarten with reading, writing, and basic math.Although I am super passionate about biology, I also enjoy tutoring math, especially at the elementary and middle school level. I have been informally tutoring peers and younger students in math for about 10 years I.e. When I was in middle school, I was tutoring elementary school; when I was in 10th grade, I was tutoring 10th grade and below. Math is a subject where foundation skills are critical. Concepts learned at lower levels are needed for upper levels. I enjoyed tutoring math, because it reinforced concepts that I had learned at a lower level and left me with the satisfaction that my peers and students would be able to grasp those concepts and proceed to the next level. The same holds true for biology. You must grasp concepts learned in introductory biology to understand the greater concepts as well as applications. Biology, the study of life, is all around as, as well as math. These are everyday concepts that can be applied to any career. As an experienced peer tutor, part of my tutoring philosophy is to connect with the student, and provide unique ways for the student to remember something. As both a student and a tutor, I am adamant about using contemporary examples, analogies, acronyms and mnemonics. Also, since I am a visual leaner, I am also a fan of bringing visual images into the class room. Although it may not always seem so, the internet can be your best friend during a tutoring session. I like to find images and explain them to give a deeper understanding of a topic, and when all else fails, I always carry around a personal white board! When I am not in the classroom, I like to find myself immersed in the beautiful culture of the city. At least once a month, I like to take my mom out to a restaurant of a different ethnicity and culture to try some different foods. We most recently discovered a Caribbean restaurant called "Some 'Ting Nice" in Somerville, MA. Although I wouldn't call dancing a talent, I enjoy going out dancing with friends. When I'm not out eating or dancing, I like to test my creativity in the kitchen. I like to look up different recipes that I have eaten in a restaurant, and put my own little spin on it. My favorite dish to cook is my spin on shrimp paella, and arroz con gandules y habichuelas (rice with pigeon peas and pink beans). In the summer time, you are most likely to find me walking the beach or swimming with my cousins. In the winter time, you are most likely to find me in an ice skating rink, or inside cooking! My immersion in the different cultures of the greater Boston area, and my background of tutoring (both formal and informal) along with my experience working in preschools, gives me the experience to work with all types students from toddler to college. I have the patience to work with A+ students who just need a confidence booster to students with a learning disability who need some extra time learning basic math skills. I am passionate about learning and tutoring and hope to one day become a medical doctor who teaches classes in medical school, assisting students to work up to their potential and be the best and compassionate doctor they can be.

While I have more than six years of experience tutoring in a multitude of subjects, I can offer an eager student more than a jump in grades or test scores. I pride myself in being able to bring about not just these immediate goals, but in bringing the student along in a comprehensive way; in writing, reasoning, and learning ability. What I provide is professional and academic mentoring, the kind that allows a student to be more than a test score. Many students, brilliant and motivated though they are, can make poor decisions about the college admissions process, about resume building, what they do in their extracurricular time, in interviews, etc. These problems cannot be avoided by just being intelligent. Even doing research in these areas can be daunting, as the internet, full of useful information as it is, provides both wise and foolish advice to young students. Navigating this resource requires experience and professional acumen, and it is not an inborn trait.I have worked with the entire spectrum of students; those looking to get into an IVY league school, and those just hoping to make it through high school. I can most easily and effectively tutor in the sciences, test preparation, and the writing process. I am the biggest asset to those students who have aspirations in the medical, scientific, or research fields, or who are hoping to be more competitive in the prep-school or college application process.

I am a graduate of Suffolk University Law School and Boston College. Currently, I am a practicing legislative and policy attorney. I am a committed government attorney, who has dedicated many long hours to reading and understanding the American system of government, the organization of state and federal political institutions, and the U.S. and Massachusetts Constitutions. I have had the honor of serving as the Editor-in-Chief of the Suffolk Journal of Trial & Appellate Advocacy, where I reviewed the legal writings of over forty law students in areas ranging from Constitutional and Criminal Law to Employment Discrimination and Bankruptcy Law. I have a deep appreciation for American history, and believe in the guiding words of Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes when he said that "a page of history is worth a volume of logic." I also love getting outdoors and hiking in the Middlesex Fells Area, and coaching youth basketball. I am an avid movie goer, Netflix subscriber, and a diehard Boston Celtics, B.C. and New England Patriots fan. As a teacher, I believe in keeping things conversational and adaptable. I believe that talking things out and understanding the "why" of history, political science, law, and government will go miles in being able to nail down details like dates and names.
