Hello! Science is the #1 field that is consistently changing and progressing with the availability of new technology and information. As an undergraduate Biology student at SUNY Fredonia (and as someone who spends the better half of her time with her professors in our new science center) I am well-equipped with more than enough resources to teach anything from classic theories and principles, to exciting new discoveries to keep you informed and ahead of the game. One of my absolute favorite things to do is talk about and help others understand how fun and amazing science can truly be, so let's get together and get an A!

I am a very experienced high school and middle school teacher/tutor, as I have been tutoring or teaching in some capacity since August of 2010. I have always loved making personal connections with students and helping them make daunting studies (such as math or test preparation) more approachable. My favorite part of my job is empowering students to be more independent learners and helping them develop confidence in their abilities.

I have been teaching multiple subjects with an ever increasingly diverse group of students since 2008, when I graduated from the University of Toledo, with my Bachelor of Art in History and Bachelor of Education in Adolescent/Young Adult Education. I have taught history, math, language, reading, test preparation, life skills, business, and vocational skills to students of all ages and all ability types, including students with special needs. Over the last ten years, I have worked with students with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Emotional Disturbances, Specific Learning Disabilities, and other special needs, helping them to achieve academic and social success in the classroom and community. I received my Master of Art in Inclusive Education in 2016, and my Master of Education in Foundations of Behavior Analysis in 2019.It is my belief that every student has the potential to learn anything; it is up to the student, teacher, and parent(s)/guardian(s) to figure out through what medium is best suitable for the learner. I am a facilitator, rather than a lecturer; it is critical that the student explain his or her thought process when completing an assignment, so I may evaluate whether or not she or he fully understands the concept. I believe that learning can be fun, whether it is reading a book, or playing a game. I look forward to working with you and/or your learner through the course of this year!

With my many years of teaching experience, I have learned that the impact I have on my students is immense. A teacher has the power to make or break a child's mind and soul My choice is always to create. I believe that the young mind has the right to be given an opportunity to acquire skills and knowledge they can use throughout their lives. Every student no matter where they come from, what values they hold, and what culture they practice, they should have the opportunity have their minds cultivated and opened. It is only in this regard that they will have the knowledge and ability to think critically, believe in themselves and become citizens that contributes to society's well being.

Growing up as the oldest of five kids, I've spent a large part of my life being a tutor for my siblings. This helped me develop my teaching skills at a young age, and served me well when I became a recitation instructor at University of Colorado Denver, teaching upper-division genetics. My year-long tenure there only deepened my love of teaching and helped me strengthen my abilities to educate many different styles of learners. I also have the experience with graduate standardized testing, as I scored in the 95th percentile or above on the SAT, ACT, and MCAT.Since graduating in May with two degrees in biology and psychology, I have spent my time going through the medical school application process. During the upcoming year, I hope to help tutor those still in school not only to keep on my toes academically, but to help those who may be struggling with various subjects throughout their academic careers. There is no better feeling than watching someone have a eureka moment of understanding, and I look forward to meeting and working with new students.As a Colorado native, I love spending my free time hiking and climbing my way through the Rockies. I also enjoy playing volleyball (being 6'8" has its advantages) and teaching myself to play the guitar.

I have always had an interest in creative writing and the ability to use words to express so much feeling and compassion towards others and the world around me.I received my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at Kent State University where I concentrated mainly on Developmental Psychology on courses such as Child Psychopathology, Child Psychology, Adolescent Psychology and Abnormal Psychology. With this, I could gain knowledge on working with children and being able to identify behavior issues and interventions. I have always inspired to be a teacher and have held volunteer work experience placements as a tutor within the community.Before entering Graduate school at Youngstown State University, I was fortunate enough to work with adults with disabilities as a part time Support Professional. I have found myself inspired by the challenge of working with individuals with disabilities and often realized their potential and this furthered my decision and commitment to become a teacher in Special Education. Since then, I have worked with Autistic children during summer camps as well as an Instructional Reading Tutor as part of YSU. My specific courses at YSU were Introduction to Exceptionalities, Planning and Programming for Transitions, Characteristics and Behaviors, Behavior Management for Educators, Assessment for Gifted and Exceptional Children and Introduction to Educational Research.I am a highly motivated individual that sets out to achieve attainable goals and be adaptive in new environments. I maintain a positive and constructive attitude towards job detail and adequate education. I have a passion and dedication in helping promote and protect the human rights of individuals with or without intellectual and developmental disabilities while increasing awareness and involving the community in the lives of those who may have exceptional needs.

I have been a professor of History for 9 years, with a focus on modern Europe. My research is on immigration to Germany from Turkey in the postwar era. I have also worked as a writing and reading comprehension tutor, a tutor for learning German as a second language, and a tutor for the GRE. I served as an AP European History reader (grader) for 4 years. I have also lived in Germany for 4 years and enjoy travel more than anything. I enjoy one-on-one tutoring and making a difference in students' lives and futures.

I received my Bachelor's of Science in Business and Financial Management from Brooklyn College.My passion for tutoring started in high school when I began tutoring as a requirement of the National Honor Society. I continued tutoring privately when I entered college mainly for elementary aged students. Currently, I work with an after school program where I work with large groups of students with ages ranging from 4-12 years old.I love being able to help someone who is struggling to grasp a concept. This is something I believe I excel at, and I am looking forward to the opportunity to do so with Varsity Tutors!

I am a pre-medical student studying neuroscience at the University of Michigan. I have a lot of experience with tutoring elementary-aged children with various special needs, but my skills are not limited to this demographic. I am a graduate of Prairie View A&M University. I received my Bachelors of Liberal Arts and Sciences with a specialty in English and I am currently seeking to get my Master's in Education. Since graduation, I have worked in various classroom settings across the Houston and Spring Area. Through these opportunities, I have worked with students to enhance their knowledge and skills according to the state standards. In order to achieve this goal, I implemented many strategies such as small group instruction, one-on-one instruction, and engaging activities. I am very passionate about the process of reading and writing. I believe that today's youth struggle with comprehending what they read and being able to transfer that into coherent thoughts. My experience is that when this concept is introduced through familiar concepts, it is easier for the student to process. I find great pleasure in helping students tie those pieces together and become critical thinkers. I can't wait to join you on your journey!
