I also hold a bachelors degree in political science.I have worked in the public and non-profits sectors for the majority of my professional life, mostly in city government and community development.

I have been a teacher for a total of 7 and 1/2 years. I first began teaching at a Head Start, starting out as an assistant teacher and moving my way up to a lead teacher. As a Head Start teacher, it was my job to teach students social skills, early literacy skills, and early math and science skills. I loved teaching this age group and only stopped working there in order to further my education.After I decided to go back to school, I worked a substitute teacher. I have experienced subbing in grades 1st through 5th, as well as all Middle School and High School grade levels. I also worked as a lead teacher for a private Pre-K program for 6 months. I worked there until I was hired in the public school system. Currently, I teach kindergarten in for Oklahoma Public Schools. I have taught Kindergarten for 2 years. I work with students on phonics, letter name and sound recognition, recognizing high frequency words, and other emergent reading skills. I also work with them on early math and science skills.I absolutely love to teach. I laugh every single day and learn something new each day. I completed my PhD in Epidemiology at the University of Wisconsin Madison and a MPH at Emory University in Atlanta. It has been interesting to me since I was in elementary school, learning on a Leap Pad. I helped my fellow students with their assignments and really enjoyed helping. Through helping others, I got a better understanding of the subjects myself.My first official tutoring job was at a Kumon Math and Reading Center in Maple Grove. I worked with a variety of kids at different ages and helped them with their Kumon assignments. However, I found the method of teaching at Kumon to be very limiting. Kumon has a specific method that every student must adopt. I believe that every student learns in their own unique way, and it's up to the instructor/tutor to find out what works. That is part of the fun.In my spare time, I'm part of my school's Performance Arts Leadership group. We plan the theater programs for the school. I also perform or help out with the performances. I'm also working on film projects of my own.I hope to help you reach your academic goals!

I have been working my kids my whole life from either babysitting, nannying, or being a camp counselor. I have worked with a variety of ages and I am extremely enthusiastic. Some more background about me is that I'm from a suburb of Chicago and I'm a hard core Blackhawks fan. I love lacrosse and field hockey. I played both of them since high school and play on the club field hockey team in Madison. I am a HUGE pet lover as I have a dog of my own.I tutor mathematics for all levels up to Calculus. I have always enjoyed math since I was in elementary school and I love helping others out. One of the best feelings in the world is seeing a student finally understand a subject or a concept after a lot of hard work. I believe anything is possible with some patience. Having started at a community college in Florida and later working my way up to a top 20 school, I know what's it's like to start with seemingly no aptitude in math or physics. It takes hard work, patient guidance from mentors, and often times a certain shift in perspective. I'm here to aid in the latter two.
