I graduated with a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering with a minor in Mathematics. I am a structural engineer professionally but tutoring has always (literally, always) been my passion. I grew up in the beautiful state of Goa, India, and I moved to the United States to attend college at Brigham Young University about five years ago. I am a young wife, and my husband is a structural engineer as well!I started tutoring students my own age when I was in high school. My friends' parents would "hire" me to help their children, and so I started teaching material I had just learned myself. It was so much fun. After I got to college, I started working at the Mathematics Lab on campus where I tutored students in college level math ranging from College Algebra through Differential Equations. This was probably my favorite job ever. I also taught math to a sweet girl in 7th grade who was home-schooled. I helped her dramatically improve her math skills and she was able to get into an excellent, and very competitive, private high school after taking a math entrance test. And throughout all of this, I have absolutely loved it! I am a CRLA Certified Tutor, having completed all 3 levels of training. There is nothing better than seeing the look on a student's face when he or she "gets it." I love that. I have found great joy in teaching, and for the time that I am with a student, nothing is more important than making sure you are comfortable and you understand the material.I have a lot of experience with mathematics, and frankly, I think I have been blessed so that it usually comes naturally to me. I have also been pretty good at English writing as well as speaking having participated in various debate and elocution competitions in the past. I am also a native English and Hindi speaker, so I have a lot of experience with different cultures/languages, and I am happy to help students with language difficulties.Feel free to contact me and I would love to help you/your child improve their learning skills! Though I am an engineer professionally, I am doing tutoring because I enjoy it so much, so I would love to help you out in any way I can!

I am currently pursuing my masters in Creative Writing in Fiction at Saint Mary's College of California, where I also teach English Composition and tutor at the Center for Writing Across the Curriculum.Writing is what I do, what I love, and teaching it to others is my passion. That passion allowed me to graduate from the University of Washington with a 3.97 GPA and receive writing awards for my academic and creative work. I strive to share that enthusiasm and pursuit of excellence with my students. My goal is to help students become independent thinkers and learners, able to handle even the most difficult assignments without feeling overwhelmed. Good grades on individual assignments is not the goal, only a byproduct of the work done in sessions which result in clear, thoughtful, well-researched writing across disciplines for a variety of audiences and purposes. I specialize in high school, college, and non-traditional students who need help improving their writing in any capacity. I try to make sessions as fun and engaging as possible while working seriously on the task at hand. In my spare time I love writing science fiction, reading, traveling, petting the occasional cat, and playing baseball.I'm always open and available for questions, so send me an email and let me know how I can help!

I love to learn! I have four children, three boys and a girl ranging in age from 22 to 15. It might seem crazy, but I miss helping them with their homework! I have two bachelor degrees; one in Chemistry and the other in Public Health. I also have a masters degree in Industrial Hygiene, which is a branch of Public Health that deals with employee safety in the workplace. I loved working in that field, but when I had children, I really wanted to be the one at home raising them. I am extremely lucky that I have been able to spend the past 22 years teaching and raising my children. To me, there is nothing more exciting than watching someone learn and eventually master a skill or concept! I am passionate about early childhood education. I believe having a strong foundation in reading, writing and math and helps foster a love for learning throughout life. While my children were in elementary school, I taught art in all of their classrooms, coordinated countless PTA functions and started a science club to help children become excited about science. I can't wait to help you with your studies!

So many people approach math with a crinkled up face and a feeling that they just can't do math. Personally, I love math, but my goal for my students is to have them leave say, "It may not be my cup of tea, but I can do it." Mastery, and a sense of "Yes I can" is what I hope to leave my students with.I am always interested in trying to connect math to something else that you love, because in fact math describes the world around us.I am intensely curious about so many things and as a result I have pursued many interests.

I have always enjoyed helping people understand, and for I long time I considered becoming a teacher, though I eventually decided to spend my time learning the applied side of mathematics. I still, however, relish any opportunity to work with people, whether as a counselor, instructor, or colleague. I know I can be of value to anybody who wants to understand mathematics on a deeper level and I look forward to helping students achieve their goals.

I started tutoring, informally, while I was getting my BA in Mathematics from Boston University; I used to help my friends in the engineering department with their calculus homework. I realized that I had a knack for explaining mathematics in simple terms. I also realized how fun it is to teach math and how rewarding it is to watch a student grow in their understanding. From there, I continued to tutor privately. While in grad school, I also got the opportunity to be a teaching assistant. My approach to teaching is to work through examples with the student, guiding them along the way with questions meant to help them think about the problem and come to their own understanding of the material. Teaching, to me, is a dialog. My role is to help you learn the material in a way that works with how you process information.I teach high school and college level mathematics, and I also help with test prep for GRE and SAT Verbal/Quantitative tests.

I've been a teacher nearly as long as I can remember. I started putting together my first lesson plans when I was a babysitter, at the age of 13. Years later I set off to Arrowhead Ranch in Southern California, to teach science as an outdoor Naturalist. I taught Botany, Astronomy, Zoology, Ecology, Metrology, and Geology in accordance with State of California Board of Education Framework. I learned that science is not a cold, calculating endeavor. It's a joint effort between communities. It's an opportunity for people of diverse backgrounds to come together and combine their collective experiences to build a more educated, and more joyous world. With my strong background in education and science, I have developed a unique teaching style, which prioritizes positive feedback and easily adjusts for all types of learners. My hope is to share my knowledge and help students learn more about this incredible world!
