I'm currently a master's student studying computer science at the University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. from Georgetown in science, tech, and international affairs (STIA). Previously, I worked as a data analyst (think SQL, R, and Excel) supporting forensic accountants and prosecutors with fraud investigations.My goal as a tutor is to draw from my diverse experiences and help students see the value of interdisciplinary education. I am particularly passionate about introducing computer science and data analytics skills to students at an earlier age, as well as to students who come from non-STEM backgrounds.My teaching approach centers on grasping the intuition behind a concept, rather than repeating rote concepts. I received my undergrad in international business from Central Washington University. Realizing that working with children was my true passion; I went back to school and earned my teaching credentials, with endorsements in elementary education and ESL. I have been working with children now for over 17 years preschool through 12th grade as well as teaching English as a language to children and adults. I love children for their joy in and enthusiasm for life and learning. I have two high-school age children myself, and I love spending time with them. Currently I reside in Redmond and, when not teaching, enjoy spending my time farming, hiking, biking, kayaking and reading.
