I am first an foremost a lover of music! Maybe you are too. I've spent a lot of time creating and supporting music throughout my life initially as a hobby, but then professionally some 20+ years ago. I've worked in numerous studios both large and small. I've mixed on consoles and venues both large and small. When it comes to audio mixing [both live and studio] I've done it all and I'm passionate about helping you learn some of the things quickly that took me years to figure out.I've also spent many many years in the studio honing my craft as a producer. Creating music is another one of my deepest passions and if you were interested, I'd love to share that with you.I love sharing what I know and have experienced. Lets collaborate and get to know each other!

Hello! Nice to meet you! My name is Alisha E. Teaching is my passion! When I see the looks on my students faces when they achieve academic success it makes me so proud! I am very much a people person which helps me reach all the students I teach, whether adult or child.I am an Arizona Certified teacher with a valid fingerprint clearance card. I grew up and went to high school in the Philadelphia area and then attended the University of Arizona where I earned a degree in Political Science. I earned my Master's degree in Education Leadership and Administration at Northern Arizona University. After spending 11 years teaching in Paradise Valley Unified School District, it was time for a change so now I am now a full time tutor. My experience as a teacher was not solely in the classroom. I have spent 10 years tutoring home bound students for the school district in a wide range of subjects, but focused mainly on math. (I tutor up through Algebra 3-4 and Geometry. I can tutor most subjects through the high school level aside from foreign languages and sciences.) In addition as a teacher, I was a leader on my campus as part of our leadership team and Student Council Adviser. My philosophy as a tutor is to work with the student one on one and to connect with him or her. As a middle school teacher, by doing this, I was the fun, popular teacher on campus. My performance evaluations say that, and I have thousands of former students who would say that as well, but most importantly I get results!I would love to help you out! Contact me now so I can help YOU achieve SUCCESS!Sincerely,Alisha E., M.Ed.

I graduated from Duke University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Psychology and minor in Chemistry. When I graduated, I decided to take some time off before medical school, so I completed my Master's in the Science of Health Care Delivery at Arizona State University. Right now, I am in the midst of the medical school admissions process, but hopefully, it will conclude soon. I have a comprehensive understanding of subjects ranging from the social sciences to math. As a tutor, I want to instill confidence into my students. I want them to not only material itself, but I also want my students to find the best learning methods to be successful in their academic work and beyond.

AIMS Prep Tutor • +27 Subjects
I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies from Eastern Illinois University. I graduated in 1994 and have endorsements in 6-12 Social Studies and History. I am currently considered to be a highly qualified teacher by the state of Arizona and also have an SEI (Structured English Immersion) K-12 endorsement. I have experience tutoring both junior high and high school students. Last summer I tutored seven junior high students in Reading and Writing for four hours a day during the month of June. I also currently tutor 35 high school students in Social Studies, English, Science, and Health using computer-based curriculum at an online high school. I also tutor a "5th Hour" class each day that focuses on English and Math prep for the Arizona state-mandated AIMS test that all high school students must pass to graduate. In this class we use word problems which students focus on breaking down grammatically to then solve them mathematically. The students also have an opportunity to create their own word problems each week and then "teach" the class how to solve the problem they've created. I have been an educator for over 18 years and enjoy helping students reach their academic goals and teaching them character education as well to give them the skills they need to be successful and highly productive adults. When I am not educating students I enjoy reading fiction novels (most notably from John Grisham, Stuart Woods, and Stephen King), playing sports such as golf, basketball, football, and tennis, and working out at the gym with friends. I also enjoy spending time with my wife of 11 years, our newborn daughter, and our Shitzu-Poodle.

My educational philosophy has been based on the premise that :I believe thatEvery child can learn and has the potential to succeed.Every student is an individual and has their own individual learning style.Every student should be assessed in the way that allows them to best express their abilities.Learning should be student centered & curriculum based on the needs of the students in align with the state standards as a guide.Learning should be authentic and interdisciplinary.Learning should be interactive, engaging and creative. If the student is not engaged , able to interact with the teacher & able to express one self creatively than learning is no longer taking place bc the student has checked out:(.The classroom climate is set by the teacher's attitude which should be positive & focused on the progress & attempts by learner not just the result. The classroom creates a family of learners, working together for the common goal of learning a little bit more each day & encouraging all attempts to take risks in their educational journey! The classroom should be a safe, inviting and stimulating environment where depending on the needs of each learner is student focused or teacher directed / modeled .As a teacher , my main goal is to get to know each child & see what motivates them to just "try" & take a risk (whether it's getting their mouth ready to sound out a word or holding their pencil & trying to write any part of the first letter of just/her name & to access their unique style of learning & provide engaging , creative, brain growing lessons. I don't believe that any individual whether child or adult is able to grow in their learning if they are scared of a negative consequence to their attempt to try & take a risk in their learning. Positive reinforcement & praising my student for their attempts & getting the student to try a little bit more each time we meet is my way of creating a learning environment engaging to all. I meet my student where they are at & take them where they need to be!As a parent of three drastically different but so unique & gifted kiddos in their own way; I have celebrated their attempts as well as their accomplishments. The simple mottos of "just try" & "mistakes are proof of us trying in our house" led to two honor roll students in high school & my youngest in the gifted self-contained program. I taught all three of my children to read & print when their fathers work had us traveling most of the year. It was challenging & so fun ... but learning should be:)!The most important thing I did as a parent & educator at that time was to learn a new skill while teaching my kids because it helped me empathize so much with all the information overload that we have a tendency to put on their growing brains & it reminded me of what it feels like to not get something right away when it is so easy for everyone else. Because of my ADHD this skill was so hard & so challenging to learn bc there was so much information & it was all new! Normally that would be fine but all of the students learning with me picked it up so easily . I had to work twice as hard & study twice as hard as my fellow students but it was totally worth it . Not only was it worth it for me to take risks & keep trying even though I didn't get it (boy , I was frustrated at times)but it immensely helped as a parent & educator to slow down , to celebrate any & all attempts made , and to breathe ...with enough practice, patience & encouragement my kids or students would get it. My main objective with your child is to give them courage to take risks with me & feel safe to "just try".I look forward for the opportunity to work with your child & getting to know your child so that we can have an educational experience that will give them confidence to take risks in their learning career each & every day!Ms. Nicole
