Since completing my education I’ve worked in a wide variety of academic settings from an inner city middle school in Cambridge, MA to an elite private preschool-12th grade school in Baton Rouge, LA, to a charter school focused on Hmong culture and heritage in St. Paul. My role in the Charter School in St. Paul was that of reading tutor with Minnesota Reading Corps, because of this and my literature background, I am most comfortable with reading and writing instruction. I also worked on reading and writing while volunteering at 826 Boston. In addition to reading and writing instruction for students of all ages, I have experience tutoring and teaching all subjects studied in early elementary school. I gained this experience from tutoring students at 826 Boston and subbing consistently at the school in Louisiana. I believe that tutoring sessions should be educational and skills increased, but it should also be fun, and if a student’s confidence in a subject area increases, then I feel I am succeeding. I worked for SummerVentures Childcare through Northfield Public Schools, Northfield, MN, for four summers. Last summer I was the instructor for the SummerVentures Tween Program for children ages ten to fourteen. I have experience tutoring with the Luther College Student Academic Support Center. I also volunteered as a peer math tutor in high school. While at Luther College, I was also employed as a lab assistant, resident assistant, and student research assistant.

My primary field currently is stone masonry, but it is only right to stay sharp and focused on my passion for science. That is where you come in.
