I am a one-time liberal arts graduate who decided to take my passion for writing and research to law school, like so many others. I currently work as an attorney for the Department of Justice, graduated from Ball State University 13 years ago and went straight to law school at Washington and Lee University right here in Virginia. One of my favorite parts of my current job is interacting with law student interns and paralegals and teaching them about the law. I do not get to do that often enough though, and so I thought of tutoring as a great way to be able to teach more students. I excel at Writing, Literature, Grammar, and History, and I use to be pretty mean at Math and Geometry and have been reacquainting myself with those subjects over the past few months as I do not get a lot of Math practice as a lawyer! My own learning accomplishments were always assisted by one on one interactions, and I know so many students can benefit by individualized attention. I hope to teach by example, to provide clear and simple explanations for complex concepts, and to be able to review and give advice as quickly and thoroughly as possible. When I am not working, I love spending time with my two dogs, cooking, reading (mostly historical drama and biography), and continuing to learn as much as I can about the world around me.

My passion for teaching led me into a teacher education program and Grand Canyon University. After completing a teacher education program (with emphasis in mathematics education)I also enrolled in George Mason University to major in Mathematics.I am able to provide more comprehensive math lessons to secondary school students. I had an extensive experience in teaching IGCSE Geometry and Algebra II during my student teaching period. I also have two years of experience in preparing students for SAT Math. I have worked with children from different grade levels in both educational and non-educational settings.I make math come to live by linking what I teach to real life application so that students enjoy the beauty of mathematics. Given my diverse background in business and science, I am able to use an interdisciplinary approach to make mathematics easy to understand. I believe in learning in a comfortable and convenient environment so I prefer to travel to my students' home or public places like the library. Students' have a 3-hour cancellation period that allows for more time for thinking and preparation. For tutoring in algebra I and II, precalculus, geometry, trigonometry,SAT Prep, and advance mathematics, look no farther than Kwame of Varsity Tutors for affordable, reliable, and trusted service. Lets start our journey of making math lovely and easy to pass. I cannot wait to help you get to your dreams.

I am a fourth-year medical student at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, applying to neurology residency this year. I have a passion for working with children and have spent the past eight years tutoring elementary and middle school students in math, science, social studies, and English. I also have experience supporting students with learning differences, including autism, ADHD, and other learning disabilities. These experiences are what led me to pursue a career in neurology! As a student, I've had moments where I felt overwhelmed and discouraged when I couldn't grasp material despite my best efforts, so I understand how isolating that can feel. My goal as a tutor is to ensure that other students never feel that way, by providing patient, personalized support that helps them build both skills and confidence. In our sessions, I will break down complex concepts step by step and adjust the pace so that your child can learn comfortably, whether that be slowing down with extra practice and explanation or speeding up once they are ready. I will also tailor our classes so that they are individualized to each student's specific learning style. Not only will I help them understand the material, but I will also make sure that they have the confidence to be able to do schoolwork outside of our session. Above all, I want students to know they are not alone and to develop a genuine love for learning. In addition to tutoring younger learners, I have tutored students in high school and college level classes. I served as a Teaching Assistant for a masters level Anatomy and Physiology course, and tutored students taking molecular biology, immunology, and neuroscience courses. While tutoring higher level topics, I focus on simplifying difficult material through diagrams, analogies, and practice questions. I also emphasize study skills, such as active recall and spaced repetition. Whether a student needs help with fundamental skills or advanced coursework, I am committed to adapting my teaching style to their needs and making sure they feel supported every step of the way. Please reach out if you have any questions or would like to set up a session!

I adore teaching and I love using my knowledge to help shape our nation's youth and to assist older students in their improvement. I offer a vibrant, friendly, and nurturing personality that would be a perfect fit for you.Last year I worked for for a school system in Oklahoma as a substitute teacher. Through this experience I was able to experience a wide variety of classroom philosophies and quickly determine for which strategies work and which do not. As a result I am able to think quickly and adapt lesson plans instructional techniques and discipline methods as needed. As a kind-hearted individual with a passion for teaching learners of all backgrounds I know I would be the perfect person for you. The teachers and students I knew in the past loved me and I know you will, too.If you are looking for someone to help you make the hard transitions into new learning horizons, I'm the educator for you. I'm available to chat anytime; just drop me a line. I can't wait to hear from you.

I have been working with kids for 10 years, in and out of the classroom. I am a University of South Carolina graduate who loves to help kids grow academically. I tutor German, English, Math and Art for various ages. I am an Artist myself, so art and creativity are my favorite subjects to teach. But I use my creative side to help come up with ways to teach all areas of study. As a kinesthetic learner myself, I like to work with physical materials to assist in learning. I love to hike, swim, explore, bake, and surround myself with people, and I can't wait to work with you or your child!

I am a current student at MIT majoring in Biological Engineering. I've been tutoring students for the past four years in various STEM classes, including Algebra I/II, AP Calculus AB/BC, and AP Biology/Chemistry/Physics along with SAT and ACT prep. My goal is for the student to understand the 'why' behind a particular concept, so that they will be able to later solve problems effectively on their own. Lessons will be geared to explaining concepts, going over a few practice problems, and working through any student materials if available. I also have experience critiquing college admissions essays and provide thorough feedback on style, structure, content, etc. Looking forward to working with you!
