I have been tutoring in physics and mathematics since I was college freshman 15 years ago. I graduated from Juniata College with honor is physics and mathematics and have a masters degree in physics from the College of William and Mary. I have tutored numerous students through physics courses, frequently reviewing the algebra, pre-calculus, calculus and differential equations required to navigate physics courses. My favorite part of these tutoring experiences is seeing the moments where big things click for the student.I find that the issues most people have with math and physics are the finer details. By discussing the concepts involved and talking through problems with the student, we can elucidate which details are hindering understanding. While helping the students understanding of the material progress, I also focus on problem solving methods and ways to self-check their work. This approach typically gets the student to a place where they can work more independently and confidently, reducing or eliminating the need for tutoring.

Julian
Algebra Tutor • +6 Subjects
Hello! I'm Julian and I'm currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Virginia. I have been there before. Repeatedly, there are moments where I do not understand a certain subject and I am in need of assistance. Even the most notable scholars need help at some point in their lifetime. For this reason, I'd like to repay the favor and help other students in need. More people than I can count have been there to help me and I would like to do the same with other students. To do this, I will tutor with an engaging and interactive environment. When assisting students, I like to go beyond explicit instructions. I strive for the student to fully understand the processes that we cover so that it sticks in the student's mind more effectively. Subsequently, I believe it is important to continue practicing the content individually. The main goal is to instill long term confidence in the student that surpasses what is being taught.I have two years of tutoring experience through the National Honors Society in which I was apart of. I worked directly with students, covering topics ranging from math to physics and Spanish to ACT test-taking. Typical tutoring sessions were for an hour every day after school. In addition, I am always there for my younger brothers and neighborhood children in need of homework help.
