I am a junior at Brown University pursuing a degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics. After I graduate, I intend to enroll in an MD/PhD program in bioethics or health policy. In the past, I have tutored students between ages 10 and 19 in Political Science, Algebra II/Trigonometry, English as a Second Language, and sixth grade English and Math. I decided to become a tutor because my math tutor (from 8th-12th grades) took me from hating math to enjoying and succeeding in it. I want to help others make that same transition--a bad teacher or tough class can crush a student's innate curiosity, but a good tutor can restore it.I currently tutor students in the social and biological sciences (elementary school through college level), reading and writing, and in standardized test preparation. I am also an avid debater, and coach debate at a high school in Providence, RI. When I am not tutoring, I enjoy creative writing, singing, painting, horseback riding, skiing, hiking, and traveling. My dream is to one day practice medicine in the developing world, but I also hope to pursue a career in academia (a la Paul Farmer.)I look forward to speaking with you!

I recently graduated from Wellesley College with degrees in Economics and in English. I've been tutoring for about ten years now, in subjects ranging from ESL to US History. I love learning, and because of that one of my greatest passions is helping others find the joy in learning new things.I grew up moving from country to country, and, in moving, I was able to experience many different teaching styles. Watching different classmates succeed based on how material was presented made me realize just how differently we all learn. My goal as a tutor is to find the way that you best learn and, aside from helping you understand the material, I want to help you learn how to translate different teaching styles so that, not matter who your teacher is, you can always learn.Outside of my chosen subjects, I heartily enjoy philosophy and astronomy. In my free time I am usually involved in a play, often times one by Shakespeare.

I am a Brown University senior graduating this May with a bachelors of science in neuroscience. For the past year and a half I have spent numerous hours as a volunteer for Let's Get Ready, a SAT and college prep program. I began my involvement in this organization purely on a whim, in order to give back to the community around me. I quickly discovered my passion for teaching, however, and began serving as the head math coach within a few short months. Teaching has allowed me to take part in the development of future intellects. To this purpose, I teach only mathematics and science, as those are my personal favorite subjects. I also focus on improving one's ability to think through a problem, as opposed to learning simply by base memorization. I do this because when a student's focus is solely on memorization, they often quickly forget the material due to time or stress. However, the skills one gains from learning how to think through problems are much more stable and flexible. This flexibility allows for those skills to be used in multiple subjects, and towards more advanced learning. Now, a little about me. In the future, I plan to go to medical school and become a general surgeon, due to the growing need in our current healthcare system. I enjoy drawing, salsa dancing, and bachata dancing. I'm also the self-proclaimed FIFA king of my university, and will defend my title at any non-working moment. All being said, I hope to see you in my classroom as we work together towards & beyond your goals.

I'm a former physics and mathematics student from the University of Rhode Island. There, I discovered the teachings of renowned physicist Richard Feynman which, compressed, might read: "if you really understand something, then you can explain it to your grandmother."I spend a lot of my free time reading and writing, and am currently working my way through Dubliners, a series of stories by James Joyce. I also play guitar and know upwards of several hundred songs.
