I entered the teaching field for two reasons: I enjoy math a lot, and, more importantly, I love helping students. Growing up, my teachers had a very large impact on my academics, as well as my life outside of school. My aim is to inspire my students in a similar way, so that they can be excited about being life-long learners who seize every opportunity that comes their way.

I am a high school biology and chemistry teacher. I love seeing students master science concepts and love to show students how engaging science can be. My career includes a variety of experiences working with high school and college students. I was an A+ tutor in high school and worked with high schoolers during Upward Bound Math and Science last summer. As a college student, I have spent 2.5 years working in biology and chemistry labs as well as tutoring natural sciences for the last year. My favorite topics in biology are evolution and genetics.

I am currently in my third year of college at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, hoping to graduate with my Bachelor's in Science for Biochemistry, and then go on to Pharmacy School for my Pharm.D! My first year of college I went to THE Ohio State University... GO BUCKS! With that being said, I love sports. Soccer is my favorite and I have played my whole life. I also played basketball and volleyball in high school. In my spare time, I either play sports with friends or work out! I love going to the gym and lifting weights. I am tutoring Algebra 1, 2, 3/4, Elementary Math, Geometry, Middle School Math, and Pre-Algebra. I have always had a passion for math. I enjoy reading, being outdoors, and spending time with my family and friends. I look forward to helping others achieve their academic goals. For my hobbies I enjoy being outdoors and outdoor activities including camping, hiking, backpacking and canoeing. I also like traveling. Conversational spanish is a skill that I acquired while traveling. I love spending time with my family and friends and I am advance rescue certified in SCUBA diving.

I obtained a Bachelor of Arts in French & Education with a minor in English Literature. I am also currently working towards a Master of Arts in French at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. I am certified to teach French K-12 in the state of Missouri (and have the qualifications for Kansas). I enjoyed teaching at both the middle school and the high school level as part of my training. During my undergraduate studies, I tutored both writing and French. I am now substitute teaching at a French immersion school in the area, and I had fun teaching grades 2nd and 5th there over the summer. I am available to tutor English grammar, literature, writing, math up to Algebra 1, all levels of French, and test prep (including ACT). As someone with an appreciation for languages, I especially like tutoring English and French. Since I am a certified teacher, I am prepared to present information in a variety of ways to help my students with understanding. I am a native English speaker, but I have been learning Mandarin for my entire life as well. I took 9 AP tests throughout high school in addition to the ACT. I got a 5 on Calculus BC, macroeconomics, psychology, seminar, and statistics, and a 4 on microeconomics, chemistry, computer science A, and environmental science. I am passionate about helping others, and believe that a strong fundamental knowledge of the subject is the most important factor to improving overall grades and future learning.

I hold a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance (opera) from The University of Memphis. Since graduating in 2019, I have hit pause on my opera career in order to pursue other interests.I believe I have particular gift for working with children with unique learning needs. I actually began my tutoring career as a volunteer at the Refugee Empowerment Program in Memphis, TN, where I helped refugee and immigrant children (K-12) with homework and English literacy for nearly two years. During quarantine, I temporarily moved to California to help tutor my younger cousins (8 and13) who were struggling academically due to the new COVID-19 online schooling restrictions. My cousins also faced several unique learning challenges, including severe dyslexia and ADHD. These experiences have challenged me to be able to create engaging learning experiences tailored to each child's individual needs.I have struggled with severe anxiety most of my life. In academia, my anxiety manifested itself in that I would overwork myself to the point of complete exhaustion in order to make sure I got a perfect grade. Several life-altering experiences in my early twenties helped me understand that grades are not everything. They are important, yes, but certainly not worth losing sleep or mental wellness over. My goal, as an academic tutor, is to help kids enjoy learning. Learning does not stop after the test is over -- and it should not be a frustrating experience. I aim to not only facilitate the confident comprehension of subject material, but also to spark new ideas, interests, and a genuine enjoyment of learning in all my students.

I left my corporate career to pursue a career in education, because I found teaching to be my passion.
