I am currently an honors undergraduate student at The Ohio State University studying Data Analytics with a focus on Biomedical and Public Health Analysis. My passion for tutoring comes from the belief that learning is supposed to be a fun and enriching process. I hope to help students find their love for learning. My tutoring experience comes from volunteer tutoring as part of National Honors Society in high school and by coaching/teaching the middle school academic challenge team. In my experience tutoring, I find that it is important to adapt to the learning style of each individual student. I tutor a variety of subjects including math ranging from Algebra through Calculus up to Linear Algebra, Biology, Chemistry, English, and Statistics. My favorite subject to tutor is any sort of math. In my spare time, I like to play sports like basketball or tennis, play video games, and read.

Coming from a long generation of teachers, it is no wonder that I love tutoring so much! I began tutoring biology my sophomore year of college at the University of Arizona. I absolutely loved helping students understand difficult science topics - I knew what it was like to be on the other side feeling frustrated trying to learn and grasp topics like DNA transcription and translation. Through my experience tutoring, I have helped students develop various learning styles to help them understand the material better. In addition to one-on-one tutoring, I was a Supplemental Instruction leader for the intro biology class at the UA, and I created lesson plans, games, and activities to make learning fun for the 350 students. I learned that most students are visual learners, so I advised many of them to make use of visual learning tools such as concept maps, Venn Diagrams, and charts.Growing up in Arizona, Spanish was spoken all around me and students start learning the language at a young age. I studied Spanish all throughout college and spoke frequently with locals. In addition to tutoring Spanish, I love tutoring math as well. Math has always made sense to me, 1+1 has to equal 2, there is just no other way!As for me outside the tutoring world, I graduated from the University of Arizona with a BS in Physiology, and I am currently getting my Masters in Medical Physiology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. I am a huge basketball fan, so I was thrilled when LeBron decided to return to Cleveland about the same time that I moved here! In my spare time, I do my best to tour the city of Cleveland (there is so much to see!) and cook/bake.

I love to teach and I have been doing it for as long as I can remember (used to read books to Kindergarten kids in junior high and tutored math and science when I was in high school)! Now I teach graduate students!I have an undergraduate degree in occupational therapy which included a lot of coursework in psychology and biological and movement sciences along with anatomy and neuroscience (and of course occupational therapy). I received a Master in Health Science and then went on to earn a PhD in Epidemiology and Bio-statistics. I do a lot of research in my current "day job" and use these research and stats skills to design clinical research studies.I have completed the NBCOT item-writers workshop for the board exam for occupational therapists (which taught me how to write exam questions and what content is included on the board exam). I also wrote product for the American Occupational Therapy Association exam-prep product. Finally, combining my love for travel and adventure with my tutoring skills, I do an annual study prep course for the OT board exam (the NBCOT) in Costa Rica.

I look forward to meeting and working with you, my prospective students and families as we take this journey of learning together. Before we discuss tutoring, I feel it is only appropriate to give a little background on myself! I am a recent college graduate from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. As a Columbus native, I grew up around the city of Bexley and my parents businesses, an appreciation for art and culture, as well as a love of learning. Following High-School graduation, I chose to move to Philadelphia to be on the East Coast and learn the ins and outs of the business world for myself. Upon graduation, I have been working part-time for my family businesses, and gearing up to go to Law School in the coming years. My love of learning and tutoring comes from my background in education. Since 2003, my passion was to help others learn and succeed, and I began to do so by working with children on the Autism Spectrum, as well as those with learning disabilities. Throughout my life, I saw firsthand how tutoring helped me to move ahead in school and succeed, and realized I wanted to provide the same experience for others as well. All in all, I am a kind-hearted individual looking to fulfill my personal mission statement of helping others. Let me help you succeed in school and your future through the power of tutoring!
