About Me

I graduated cum laude in May of 2012 from New York University with a BA in History and a minor in Chemistry. I am currently taking a year off in-between my undergraduate coursework and medical school in order to conduct neuroscience research at the University of Arizona's Tucson campus. My diverse background in both the sciences and humanities means that I can tutor a variety of topics ranging from Literature to Organic Chemistry, including the SAT and ACT. I believe I have a talent for communicating ideas and information in various ways to help others learn. I recognized this skill in my junior year of college when I took non-traditional Organic Chemistry. This course differed from standard Organic Chemistry classes in that it was based on small ( four person) groups of students who taught each other the science that they needed to know, with lectures given only once a week. For both semesters, I led my group, initiating discussions and figuring out answers to others' questions. I learned that my greatest strength in teaching others is my ability to see things from their perspective and to tailor what I was trying to teach to that perspective. That experience taught me that anyone can learn anything, provided that she or he takes the time to work through the material and has someone willing to re-phrase and clarify things in a way that makes sense. I'd like to help you learn whatever it is you need to know in order to become the person you want to be.
