About Me

I am a graduate of the University of Illinois with a degree in Accounting. I attended school on an Evans Scholarship from the Western Golf Association. I am a Certified Public Accountant and a certified Six Sigma Black Belt. I was awarded and Elijah Watts Sells award for scoring in the top 80 in the USA on the CPA exam. My personal interests include all things outdoors - golf, biking, hunting and fishing, kayaking and hiking. I am a fan of all types of music and recently took up the guitar. I have decades of experience as a Senior Finance Executive for a Fortune 500 company. My various roles have encompassed General Accounting, cost account accounting, financial planning, financial reporting and financial systems development. I have served as the FInancial representative on the Leadership team for multiple business units. Training and teaching was an integral part of all my roles. I was responsible for the design and delivery of Financial training for non- financial people and for the training of the entire Finance organization on a new Decision Support System. I can teach all subject areas in Accounting and Auditing. I particularly enjoy teaching accounting theory and concepts and then relating them to their practical application in the business world. Students new to or struggling to grasp accounting would benefit from my patient and personal approach.
