About Me

I have worked as a tutor, youth mentor, adjunct professor, and therapeutic program staff, and have been tutoring now for over ten years. I have a B.A. in Speech and Composition from Penn State University Park, and am pursuing a Masters Degree in Social Work at the University of Pittsburgh. My most rigorous experience as an educator comes from his years working in a wilderness therapy program in the deserts of Utah, where I spent over 500 nights as a field guide, youth mentor, and staff trainer. I believe that education's primary goal is not the acquisition of knowledge, but the development of confidence, competence, critical thinking, and well-being mentally, emotionally, and physically. As a young person, I was diagnosed with ADHD, and has found that my own way of overcoming the obstacles of public school were helpful to others who struggle with inattention, hyperactivity, autism spectrum disorders, and all types of learning differences. I believe that learning should be a vivid, engaging experience, and that humor and creativity are the best ways to turn difficult subject matter into something approachable and exciting.
