About Me

I am a certified and experienced former middle-school teacher, with a particular passion for teaching reading and writing. I've also enjoyed teaching ESL and sharing my enthusiasm for learning Spanish. These experiences have included working with children from kindergarten through 12th grade. I am an alumna of the Harvard Graduate School of Education and the University of Pennsylvania, and a fluent Spanish speaker. In addition to working in 20+ American schools and programs, I have lived and worked in Chile and Peru, where I taught English and trained other teachers. I am a lifelong bookworm, proud owner of a "Grammar Police" T-shirt, and geek for fantasy and magical realism. I have a track record of helping students to discover or develop a love of Reading, Writing and Language. My most rewarding experiences have involved guiding struggling or unengaged students in finding their own talents as writers and learners. I believe a successful tutoring approach includes creativity, responsiveness, attention to detail, and a clear passion for the subject.
