About Me

My name is Stephen McGinnis. I am new to Varsity Tutors but have been teaching students in the education profession since 2008. I have been a certified teacher in the state of Missouri since 2012. I currently work as a special education teacher with students in grades K-8 at a private school in St. Louis, MO. I am passionate about teaching and feel most at home when working to empower individuals or small groups of students to reach their personal and academic goals. As a teacher, I believe that every student has talents and I will do everything within my power to help my students identify and develop their talents. My areas of strength as a teacher are in the areas of English, Grammar, and Writing, but I also have experience teaching Math, Science, and Social Studies, during my 7+ years experience as a certified teacher in Missouri. In preparation for my career as a teacher, I earned a Master's in Teaching degree at Fontbonne University (2012) and a B.A. in Mass Communication (Journalism) from Southeast Missouri State University in 1999. I am excited to begin sharing my expertise as a veteran teacher on the Varsity Tutor platform in the coming weeks.
