An elective that I think should be a required class is Media Literacy. I feel like people nowadays are gullible enough to believe anything they see on the internet. They believe it without ever questioning the source. From social media posts to the news. This would help people think critically about what they are consuming daily. All of this constant spread of misinformation can harm others.

In Media Literacy class, you would analyse what is being read and fact-check it by figuring out the purpose, message or any bias that it might have. You would have to consider the different points of view from the source and understand how the media influences people in good or bad ways.
The effect that this would have on people would be that it would lead to a better-educated public. The impact that it would have on students would be beneficial, as they would be able to form their own opinions without the influence of others. Even outside of school, it would help them make well-informed decisions about their health, politics, and social media usage. Overall, having a media literacy class would make students better informed, less easily manipulated and able to engage in discussions
