Tutoring review by Michelle in Brookline, MA
Today, the student and I worked on her algebra skills. She understands the patterns well, but does not yet understand how the patterns work. I have assigned her several of these problems with the hope that practice will make it more clear. Furthermore, we have been working on not jumping to conclusions. I have faith, though, that she can do well, if she puts in the time and makes doing math comfortable.

Today we started off the session discussing cell membrane structure and function. We then talked about the selective permeability of the membrane, protein pumps, and tonicity. Afterward, we discussed the various stages of cellular respiration and fermentation. It was a lot of information to take in, so we will likely have a brief review of the concepts during our next session.

Tutoring review by Aleksey in Brookline, MA
Reviewed programming concepts the student learned during the previous semester. We reviewed class structure, constructors and methods, and expanded on those relations to allow the student to better comprehend how the different parts of a computer program interact with one another. Also cleared some terminology misunderstandings and reviewed the idea of "top-down programming" and began working on developing algorithms first, then writing code last. Touched on AP test taking strategies (particularly, the free response part). Altogether a productive session.
