Tutoring review by William in Indiana
In today's session, the student and I worked on square difference factorization, radical equation solving, and reviewed how to use the quadratic formula to solve a quadratic equation. We also began to work with imaginary and complex numbers: their addition, multiplication, and being raised to a certain power. He understood the topics and procedure for the topics we worked with after a brief explanation, and only a few practice problems. He quickly picked up on the tips and corrections I provided. He is a bright and dedicated student, and I believe with a bit of practice, he will master these topics in a short time. I see no topics with which he struggles specifically.

The student and I worked on acid-base chemistry today. We reviewed calculating pH, and started writing neutralization reactions. We then used the neutralization reactions in titration problems. We came up with a system of steps for titration problems, and she is going to do some extra practice before we meet next.

The student had a homework assignment on the use and comparison of the thermometer in both Celsius and Fahrenheit. The homework entailed recognizing how to express the terms, and how to show and read the instrument. He fared well in his learning. In a social studies assignment, he had to prepare the detailed material to write a Greek myth of his own. He showed a flair for creativity and even humor, in settling on and enunciating his ideas. He enjoyed this part more than other subjects. In addition, he wrote the beginning of the summaries of his reading on the Greek-Persian battles of ancient times.

We began by checking the student's Math HW and correcting the few mistakes. We then reviewed dividing fractions, factor rainbows, and some of the multiplication tables. He was left with some homework problems for each of these three categories. He is lively and creative.

Tutoring review by Kristen in Indiana
We began with a review of the kinematics problems the student had completed last session, working through an old worksheet from that unit. So that we could get through more problems, I asked her to talk me through how she would solve each problem (equations she would use, her thought process behind each), and we only solved the numerical problem for the more challenging ones. I gave her another practice problem on an area that she had found challenging. We then moved on to review Unit 2 on forces, working through almost all of the review problems on that area.
