We went over problems the student did not understand for her exam later this week. She seemed to have a pretty good grasp on most of the problems.

The student and I went through a final test review packet. He said that the trigonometry section was the most difficult for him so we began with that. At the beginning, I asked him what SOHCAHTOA means and how to use it. I found that he had SIN, COS and TAN incorrectly noted. Once we straightened out that SIN = Opp/Hyp, COS = Adj/Hyp, and TAN = Opp/Adj, he said that many things began to make much more sense. He did a good job utilizing reference angles and one side to find a missing side and was able to apply the main trigonometric functions appropriately. He was also able to solve for particular angles by utilizing inverse trig functions. We will continue with another session tomorrow so that he is ready for his Wednesday final, but he is certainly solving problems perfectly well so far.

Student 1 and I did some exam problems. He did an excellent job. I think the teacher's website link will help to define a better path on what to study during future sessions. Student 2 and I worked with imaginary numbers. We started on some of the basics and worked our way to solving for z. Student 2 and I need to work a little more solving for z to make sure the steps are more concrete.

Tutoring review by Charles in Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, IN
Based on the work that the student has done so far, I am confident that he can meet his goal of improving his critical reading score by 100 points. As long as he keeps up his hard work over the next couple of days, he may even be able to exceed that.

The student and I worked on reading cvc words with short vowel "a" and "e." She is doing tremendous in building her reading skills, and will refer to herself as a "reader." Her confidence is growing and is helping her achievement. We read some Bob books, and I left her 4 to read until I see her next.
