Also, the teacher made a new page of "Notes" (in place of a foldable??) and the student had to fill in the sections on Turkey and Israel 3. Quizzed him on Science terms all the way through physical and chemical properties - test coming up.

We went over his test in detail, going over the mistakes he made and how he can avoid making them next time. A lot of the test questions had to do with lab activities from his time in class. It was clear that with a firm grasp of the labs, the student could have easily scored much higher on the test, so I will check up on his lab understanding from week to week. Otherwise, he needs to work on his pacing so he can have time to do some free response problems, and I will try to find ways to improve his speed.

Today we reviewed the chapter on hormones and worked on the essay questions. We also studied components of the blood, and progress was made when the student repeated what blood is made up of and what the functions of blood are.

During our second session, the student and I talked about the math section in greater depth. First, we did a quick overview of common tricks that appear on the SAT, and how to recognize these problems by sight. After that, we discussed a variety of math strategies that are applicable to different problem types, such as translation for word problems, back-solving, and picking your own numbers. She seemed to derive a lot of confidence from this work, because she suddenly understood how to tackle problems that had previously been too intimidating.
