Today we reviewed for the student's calculus test tomorrow. I have revisited some challenging concepts such as continuity and finding limits of a rational functions. With the cases of defined, nonzero/ zero, which is undefined, and the indeterminate form 0/0, which leads to either the "defined" or "undefined" case by dividing out common factors. He seemed to get there with a little work. He managed to solve some similar problems on his own. After that we went over the average slope and the slope of a point and use them to find the equations of secant line, tangent line, and normal lines. The student got the idea.

Tutoring review by Esther in Haverhill, MA
The student had a quiz on Friday on 2 step equations that she found difficult, so we tried to work on that today. We were able to get through addition/subtraction 1 step equations fairly easily, but she had some trouble with the multiplication/division equations. We did a lot of practice--both together and individually--and by the end, she felt much more comfortable solving equations. I gave her some additional workbook pages on 2 step, multi-step, and variable on both side equations that I think will be very helpful.
