Tutoring review by Meghan in Santa Paula, CA
The student and I started by reviewing his math homework. He did well with the graphing and using equations. The remainder of the time we worked on Spanish. I helped him with the basics, and we did a number of different exercises from his Spanish textbook.

Tutoring review by Jane in Santa Paula, CA
Tonight we did practice problems with exponents, factoring, functions, and simplifying expressions. The student got a lot more comfortable with exponents, of which she was unsure when we started. She clearly demonstrated comprehension of the topics and strategies for solving problems. Now it's time to practice so it gets a little faster! I made a big packet of practice problems based on her materials for class and review packet for the final exam. We'll continue working through it as we meet/between our meetings she can practice.

We started unit 2 trigonometry. We reviewed the student's homework, which covered the six trig functions, coterminal angles, and rotations. She is very elated that she is understanding the material thus far. Next week, we will continue to work from the syllabus and review exponentials and logarithms.

Tutoring review by Penny in Santa Paula, CA
Student A and I read and summarized another chapter of her history book. This one is about the Road to San Jacinto. She did say that our work on the Alamo chapter meant that she could understand the information plates when she went to the Alamo. After we were done, she worked independently on her history assignment. I brought a practice book for the ISEE and SSAT tests. While I worked with Student A, Student B took the math and the reading sections of the test. We reviewed her answers and experience. She did very well on the math portion, but the fact she only had 40 minutes to read passages and complete 40 questions meant she skipped some passages and she accidentally missed half of one passage. We will continue to practice. She asked for homework, and took a passage I had about Abraham Lincoln to read before next week. I want to work with her on reading passages and Greek and Latin roots. See you next week!

Tutoring review by Janelle in Santa Paula, CA
In this session we went over problems supplied by the student's parents. This problems dealt with solving equations. The student had some difficulty at first with the vertical method. But towards the end of the session she was able to solve the problems with less difficulty. We went over doing operations with negative numbers during this review. This was a good session.

Tutoring review by Verne in Santa Paula, CA
The student and I worked through his review for his test tomorrow. The topic was solving trigonometric equations using trig identities, factoring, quadratic equations, etc. He was able to solve most of the problems with little to no help from me. However, I did clarify a few confusions that he had about some of the problems. He seemed confident and well prepared for the test towards the end of the session. I expect him to excel on this test.
