Certified Tutor

I am a 1984 Cum Laude graduate of the University of Houston with a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and Texas State Certification in Secondary History (grades 6-12) and Secondary Speech. During my ten years as a full-time youth minister in a Baptist church, I earned hours toward a Masters of Ministry degree from Luther Rice Seminary in Georgia. I have eleven years experience teaching and coaching in public and private schools. I have taught a variety of subjects; Texas, U.S., and World History, Geography, Speech, and Physical Education. I am qualified to tutor the aforementioned subjects plus Reading (due to elements necessary to study History), Study Skills and Organization. I would even be willing to workout with students to improve their overall health and fitness levels. My tutoring style can be described as encouraging and exhorting. I encourage students to enjoy learning and hopefully become life-long learners. I exhort students to do their very best on whatever task is before them and to reach for the stars. I love to read historical novels (favorite author currently is Joel C. Rosenberg), play guitar, walk my dog Baxter, play basketball, run/jog, and hang out with my wife. I love to learn and I hope my joy of learning rubs off on my students. Learning can be fun!
