What is your teaching philosophy?

My teaching philosophy is to provide students with all the opportunities to get involved in their learning process.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I would use some type of activity to assess the student and find what kind of learner they are. I would also have a talk with them to find out their strengths and weaknesses, including their interest and hobbies.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

First, I would role model a lesson, then provide some guided practice, and then let them do independent work. By giving control of the process to the student, I encourage active learning and increase the student's self-confidence. I would be a guide and a facilitator.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

To motivate a student, I would not concentrate only on weaknesses, but build the session upon the student's strengths. Positive praise is always motivating.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

I understand every student has a different pace of learning. I would find out the area where a student is struggling and try different strategies to teach the concept. By differentiating lessons, I would teach them the concept.
