Certified Tutor
As an educator, I firmly believe it is my duty to facilitate the development of my students into confident and capable individuals by providing one-on-one, tailored instruction. Academic priorities include determining what-if any- incomplete or incorrect knowledge the student may possess, identifying sources of error, detailed, guided instruction and frequent checks for comprehension. I have experience teaching students from a wide range of backgrounds and abilities and am more than willing to assist all students, including those struggling to grasp basic content to those who require in-depth support for their Advanced Placement coursework.
On a personal level, I am a high school science and middle school generalist certified (Texas) teacher. I taught for three years at the middle school level, where I focused on Pre-AP mathematics. I then transferred to the high school level where I taught Conceptual Physics, Medical Microbiology & Pathophysiology and specialized in AP Physics 1 for the last five years. I have conducted research on behalf of the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and recently completed a Frontiers in Education Fellowship with the American Physiological Society. I received my Bachelor of Science degree (major: Biology, minors: Chemistry, History) in 2008 from the University of Texas at El Paso and am now working on completing my Master's degree in post-secondary education through Penn State.
