Certified Tutor
When asked, "why do you want to be a tutor?" a million and one reasons popped into my head. Being a new teacher my original reason was just to help students. Although this was a good reason in the beginning I realized that it is more to the tutoring than just helping. Being a tutor will not only help me become a better teacher but also a better person.
Part of my philosophy of education is to understand the differences and similarities of individuals in and outside of my classroom. The United States of America is known as the "melting pot state" and understanding diverse backgrounds is important for effective teaching and tutoring. Understanding that not every child is the same and not every child comes from the same background will not only help me to teach students better, but it will also help me to understand the needs of students. Diversity in students is more than just where they come from; it also includes their learning styles. All students do not learn the same. It is important for me, as a teacher and tutor, to use the knowledge that I have acquired through my college career to be an effective teacher and tutor by connecting with all of my students in and outside of the classroom.
Being a tutor will help me to better understand the needs of others. By being a tutor, I will be able to help students from a variety of backgrounds. It is important, as a teacher, to not only succeed myself but to help others succeed and accomplish their goals. As quoted "it takes a village to raise a child" it also takes a village to help students succeed in life. We are not in this alone and I am committed as a teacher and tutor, to make sure that every student need is met and every question is answered.
