My name is Farah Casalini, and I am an MFA in Writing graduate with a focus on Creative Nonfiction. During my four years in the program, I have sharpened my academic writing skills (critical essays, theses) as well as my creative writing skills. I also learned how to effectively critique my peers' work, again both academically and creatively. All the while, I worked full-time as an Operations Manager/Marketing Compliance Officer/Assistant Compliance Officer at a commercial check cashing location in Hauppauge, NY. I've written everything from technical manuals, to executive emails, to marketing copy, to press releases, to a 75-page memoir, to a 60-page critical thesis, and beyond. The combination of my traditional and unconventional training diversifies the way I think, approach writing, and relate to others.

When I'm not writing, I am an avid digester of all things cultural. Films, books, art, blogs, music, memes - I enjoy being in tune with the culture. This desire also fuels another passion of mine: traveling. I have been all over the world and aspire to travel somewhere new every year. Having this deep fondness to experience culture, whether it's visiting a dive bar in Greece or reading a book from the New York Times' Bestseller List, allows me to understand and appreciate all of the people who bring these things to life - people like you.
