I am passionate about helping students because I believe that education has the power to unlock opportunities and transform lives. Throughout my life, I have always been fascinated by the way knowledge can inspire and empower people, and this deep-seated belief drives my desire to guide others in their academic journeys. As a tutor, I see myself not only as a teacher but as a mentor, a coach, someone who is dedicated to fostering a student's confidence and curiosity while helping them reach their full potential.
I have experience working with students across a variety of age groups and learning styles. Prior to teaching I worked as a Subject matter Expert. Designed curriculum for 40 schools in collaboration with the Finnish National Board of Education, Center for Innovation in Education (USA), Teachers without Borders (USA), Education Changemakers (Australia). I have tutored individuals in subjects such as English, Economics and Social sciences, and I've worked with both middle school, and high school as well as college students. I've developed a keen ability to adapt my tutoring style to suit each student's unique needs, ensuring that I can create an effective learning environment that promotes engagement and success.
I hold a PhD in International Relations, with a dual Masters degree in Political Science & Sociology. My education and experience provided me with a solid foundation in theories, teaching strategies, and subject matter expertise.
I tutor in a wide array of subjects, including Sociology, Economics, ESL, Reading, English language, arts, politics, Geography and history. However, my favorite subjects to tutor are Sociology and English. I find Sociology fascinating because of its many theories which enrich us with vast knowledge. English, on the other hand, allows me to explore creativity and expression with students, helping them develop skills that will serve them both academically and in their personal lives.
My teaching philosophy is built on a student-centered approach. I believe every student has a unique learning style, and I strive to identify what works best for them, whether that's visual aids, hands-on learning, or verbal explanations. My goal is to create an inclusive and supportive atmosphere where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, as this is how true learning occurs. I encourage a growth mindset, helping students to understand that challenges are a part of the process, and persistence is key to mastering any subject.
Outside of academics, I am passionate about as painting, sketching, reading, hiking among others. I enjoy medidation, as it gives me a way to recharge and stay balanced. I believe that well-rounded individuals bring diverse perspectives into the classroom, and I work to model a balanced lifestyle for my students as well.
Ultimately, my passion for helping students comes from a desire to inspire confidence, cultivate curiosity, and guide them toward success both inside and outside the classroom. I am excited about the opportunity to continue making a positive impact through tutoring, helping students not only succeed but thrive.
